The fact that anyone could vote for the likes of George Felix Allen Jr., Ken Blackwell, or COnrad Burns instead of their worthy opponents is evidence of deep sickness in America. If we somehow squeak out a majority in the House, the country will still be run by hate radio, GOP-TV, the ultra-right-wing newspapers, and activist partisan hack judges that have been stuffed onto the courts at all levels over the past 20 years.

I don't see this whole thing ending non-violently, even if we manage a tight victory in November.

1. Actually, I think
there are quite a few scandals we could uncover that should last at least 2 years. Cheer up mate, it could be worse. :)

8. I think so, too
If we have two solid years of good invesigations into all the crimes that Bush/Cheney and the R's have committed, I think attitudes will change.

Of course, there will always be some idiots who'd vote for a Burns, but I doubt they constitute more than 20% of the population.

6. I think you're correct..The advantage we will
have in 2008 is the coattail wins..I have no doubt that we will elect a Democratic President in 2008 (by a landslide) so the then incumbent congressmen will ride the waive to reelection.

4. That doesn't make any sense at all
Edited on Fri Oct-27-06 04:23 PM by brentspeak
If the Democratic party wins the majority in both House and Senate, then how does the RW media "run" the country? Also, there have always been demogogues like Allen and Blackwell receiving votes in American elections throughout the country's history; how is George Allen receiving some votes in the 2006 election any different than some mid-19th century yahoo who received votes in the 1864 election?

Also, can you explain precisely what you mean by the sentence, "I don't see this whole thing ending non-violently, even if we manage a tight victory in November"?

This is a "why bother voting?" thread, ie. a counter-productive thread.

5. Why aren't we attacking the poster
Edited on Fri Oct-27-06 04:23 PM by Rockstone
yesterday we were saying that anyone who posts "I'm worried" is a freeper. Remember? Why aren't we all piling on and ridiculing the OP for being a fake all this time and trying to steer us into losing? Surely this poster is a genuine Freeper, right?

In case you forget here is the thread that proves that the OP is a Freeper and we should all be insulting him.

7. Did someone say they'd go away quietly?
Because I sure don't remember these ruthless, bloodthirsty thugs saying that if they lost an election fair and square they'd give up their nefarious shenanigans. It's up to us to be the change we want to see in our society and quit either waiting for the world to change or adopt the methods of our adversaries, which include war and torture.

They've done a good job of inflicting their callous world view into our society, putting a price tag on everything, persuading people that their worth is exactly the size of their paycheck, and that the upward transfer of wealth is the only function of government. We've lived under a different regime before, and we will again. But it's going to be up to us to make it happen. The world deserves nothing less from us, who are the wealthiest, best educated, and in the most advantageous position of anyone anywhere to do this.

9. I hope it doesn't come to violence
But if it does they'll fire the first shot. Just like they did in 1861. And we'll beat them again.
