Grand Jury investigation of Brian Bilbray (CA -50th) confirmed!
The story made the North County Times here in San Diego:

http://www.nctimes.com/articles/2006/10/27/election2006/sandiego/20_50_4910_26_06.txt

When Busby first published the story on her websited, Bilbray called it an "undocumented" rumor, and accused Busby of desperate campaign tactics.

Well, Brian, is THIS enough documentation for you?

"William Rider, 61, said he has lived in the 2400 block of Unicornio Street, the same Carlsbad street as Bilbray's mother, for the last 11 years. He showed a reporter Thursday what appeared to be a subpoena ordering him to appear before a county criminal grand jury at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 30."

Mr. Bilbray, if this story made the front page of the ultra-conservative North County Times, you're goin' down, chump.

1. This has got to be some kind of record
shortest time between (illegal) swearing-in and first grand jury investigation. I mean, we're talking what, a couple of months here? Egads. DeLay, Ney, Cunningham, forget about it. You're a bunch of lightweights compared to this guy.

3. What's the connection? He lived on the same street and got a subpoena?
i don't see where living on the same street as someone's mother and getting a subpoena tells you they are investigating the child of the mother. What am I missing?

5. Have you read the story?

This guy's a witness to the fact that Bilbray's never around his mom's house, which he claimed as a primary residence for purposes of registering in the 50th District to run for office.

He also claims a residence in Imperial Beach as his primary residence for tax purposes.

He further claims in the deed to his home in Virginia that that property is his primary residence.

He's being investigated for possible perjury, tax fraud, and election fraud charges.

There are other articles out there (in DU archives) which spell all this out in more detail.

16. And he has the nerve to complain about his kids' out-of-state tuition!
He's arguing that illegal immigrants get to pay in-state tuition, and he's upset because he has to pay for his *VIRGINIA RESIDENT* kids' out-of-state tuition rates here!

6. Bilbray used his Mother's address as his own to establish residency!
He doesn't live in the 50th District, a minor technicality for a republiclown (a somewhat bigger one in a Federal Court!) They are subpoenaing the neighbors to prove he is a liar.

9. It is in the story
They are talking to neighbors about whether Bilbray lives in the neighborhood.

11. The Busby campaign has giant legs!
She picked up 13 points in a month's time in a recent poll, which showed her in a dead heat with Bilbray (2 weeks ago). With this story about Bilbray exploding on the front page of the ultraconservative North County Times, she's poised to bury him in a landslide Nov. 7.

12. O god that sounds terrific. Keep up the great work out there.
The more Democrats we can get -- especially really super ones like Francine -- the better off we are for the long-term.

You bring us good tidings. Thank you.

20. The key to winning here
is to get the registered Democrats to vote. The Republicans here are by now split with either rabid, lukewarm, or no support for Bilbray. Many will probably stay home.

15. May it be so.
I still can't believe you guys vote in garages. My sister, who now refers to herself as a Californian, still shudders over that one.

18. That's funny.
I voted in a garage in 2002 after moving here in 2001. Ever since I've voted at the elementary school 5 blocks away.

17. That may have been Hastert's last stand.
Brilliant! I have a renewed sense of optimism. They pulled out all of their stops, and it wasn't good enough.

I really want fireworks!
