how's life at your local campaign office? (or your livingroom, if you're doing the Call for Change program - www.callforchange.org )

week

our Senator and Governor are safe, we're TRYING to get the down ticket handled too :bounce:

edit to add, it appears to be working in our little Red Rural part of NM. Democratic absentee requests are outdistancing GOP by a margin of 3 to 1

2. easiest volunteer shifts i've ever done
i have to say, Call for Change is about as painless as it gets.

true, phonebanking in a room full of other volunteers can be fun, with the team spirit and camaraderie, but if you can't get out of the house, or only have a few minutes here and there to spend on the cause, this program is EASY.

you sign up.
moveon emails you a URL.
whenever you have a few minutes to call, you go to that URL.
the website shows you a phone number to call. these are numbers of progressive voters who don't vote in every election.
you call with a very simple 2-question survey, and if someone answers the phone, you click a button to indicate how they responded. likewise, if the number has been disconnected, or you get an answering machine, you click a button to say what happened. then the web page generates another number.

when you're done, you click "done calling".

whether you have time to make two calls or 50 calls, you just go to that same URL and call as long or as short a time as you like.

EASY! we all should be doing this. get a few friends together and call at www.callforchange.org / www.callforchange.com / www.moveon.org .

in 30 minutes, i got a lot of answering machines, but also a few very eager Democratic voters, and now moveon.org knows that they are committed to voting for the Dem. candidate, so people getting out the vote on the 9th will know that it's worth calling them again that day.

6. Moveon really does make volunteering easy
It's so organized, and there's something to fit the schedule of most everyone who wants to pitch in.

5. I have been canvassing every week-end for Yarmuth to unseat
Edited on Sun Oct-29-06 08:46 PM by MasonJar
Ann Northrup, Bush's most enthusiastic playmate. It is really tight; the last poll was not good news, but prior to that we were dead even. Yarmuth just made the red to blue list, so I hope that helps. Clinton and Obama have been here, as well as Max Cleland. I just do not know; she runs such vicious attack ads; she also just came our 10 days before the election to say Rummy should resign. (A last ditch effort to prove her independence, and she is independent 3% of the time. So what more could the voting public ask?)
