Just in case they do not win the House or Senate, they want to set the parameters for debate and policy making. They want to imprint in people's minds that Nancy Pelosi is a "San Francisco liberal" and will promote the "homosexual agenda" and raise your taxes. They have already twisted her arm into saying there would be no impeachment hearings. How could anyone promise that when no one knows what laws a President might break?? And they are trying to preserve all their ill-advised taxcuts by putting pressure on Charlie Rangel, who will be in charge of the Appropriations Committee.

The Democrats should ignore them. Just as they were ignored when the Republicans took over with their radical agenda. The standard response from Democrats should be that "we will do whatever it takes to get our country back on track" after this disastrous Republican Administration and rubberstamping of the Republicans in the Senate and the House...

3. A majority is opposed to impeachment

This is because some polled individuals feel like they're being asked to render a guilty verdict without a trial. When asked, however, if they are in favor of investigating the Bush administration's role in the buildup to the Iraq invasion, for example, a majority approves. For this reason it's best to play it like, "Wouldn't you like to know?"

They are filled with dread when they think about how the ruthless House rules developed by the Republics are now going to be used against them. I can't wait to hear them howl when we tell them they won't even be in the room when decisions about bills are made.

4. Impeachment may yet come

The campaign is not the time to argue the case. Let the investigations begin. As the evidence mounts there will be new calls for impeachment, and the case can be considered then.

Much as I would like to see Bush and Cheney tried as criminals, it's important to remember that without overwhelming evidence of serious misdeeds that forces even Republican senators to vote to convict, an impeachment trial is an exercise in futility.
