I'm re-posting this for the night crowd...think it's kind of important and the board moves fast in the daytime.
note: for the record, the following took place in a low-key, courteous manner on both sides.
I called the local office of my Dem Senator to ask what the plan was if (when!) there were enough election results contested that the election was stolen AGAIN.
ME: "What are we going to do? Are we going to fight it, or are the Dems just going to roll over again and say; 'Well, we'll wait for 2008...'?"
I cited the problems that have been occuring in Ohio, MD and Florida, mentioning that in some places there had been difficulties with provisional ballots and in Florida, the machines were actually flipping the votes. "What are we going to do? How are we going to handle this? What's the plan?"
....crickets chirping.....
Nice lady on the phone: "Uh....."
ME: "Sounds like you haven't been asked about this before."
NLOP: "N-no...I'm not sure this is something we'd handle on a local level...
ME: "So I should call his DC office? I have the number..."
anyway, a lot of back and forthing, and it seems that if there is any kind of backup plan, nobody knows about it.
The best I could get was the sound of a rapidly clicking keyboard in the background and the assurance that: "This will certainly generate some discussion!" :wow::banghead::argh:
Is it too late to start lighting fires under the guys that are NOT up for re-election? Because I really want some assurance from the Democratic side of the aisle that all this effort that I see being put forth on their behalf isn't going to be just pissed away. :grr:
