Will they blame anything the goes wrong on the Dems and attack them if the whole thing isn't cleaned up in 30 days? Sure they will--blaming is what they do best. Already it's "But what will you do to solve the problem?". Nevermind that the president will be the same, and we can be sure he'll sharpen up his veto pen and try to hold back change.

This is exactly why Pelosi isn't probably going to pursue the impeachment route. She'll have two years to get some real changes, and it won't be easy because they will be opposed by the WH. If she can't, it will be a chorus of "The Dems can't govern! The Dems lost the Iraq war for us! The Dems are taking their eye off the ball!" Rove isn't going away, nor is his peanut gallery.

I'll be happy if she can focus on preventing more damage in the future by putting a check on the WH. And if any other information comes forth simply because good government will be working will be welcome, of course. But they have got to remain focused on increasing the peoples' confidence in the Democratic Party. Getting elected is only Step 1.

2. I believe they will try. But it will be hard to convince anyone that the situation wasn't already
completely messed up.

That this is a REPUBLICAN screw-up is one of the silver linings to losing in 2002 and 2004.

3. ginny, I worry too about how they'll blame a dem majority...
The way I see it, republicans have been controlling our elections for years. I think if they let us win this time around (not that we don’t deserve it) it will be because they want us to make all the hard decisions like tax hikes; and if they start another war, we’ll have to reinstate the draft.

We’ll make all the unpopular decisions and then Jeb will be in the White House in ‘08.

The way I see it, Bush has covered up all his criminal activities. Even if he’s impeached, so what, he’ll go off to some secluded island (maybe meet up with Ken Lay) and live the rest of his life a very wealthy man.
