Kerry Needs to Counter Bush with One Word -- Impeachment
It doesn't matter how much he couches it. He could even say:

"If I were President and had led our nation into this quagmire, the Republicans would be calling for my impeachment."

But he needs to get the word into a comment.

It's the only way he can up the ante, and put them on the defensive.

Otherwise he just remains in their frame -- tipping close races over to the neofascist liars.

1. Actually I was thinking of the word "cowards"
That pretty much sums up the Bush crowd.

3. Kerry needs to be carefull.
If Kerry comes across as "I can say whatever I want because Bush sucks and needs impeached" it will backfire on him. "I apologize to no one" is not a good start in my opinion.

He should have said "Bush deserves to be chided for the illegal war in Iraq but I apologize for a poorly worded joke". It would have been over and done with right there. Now it will live on beyond Nov 7.

He needs to hold Bush's feet to the fire but not while making himself look bad.

Shok

5. Uh yeah, thats like three 'equals' in a row.
Seriously, now is not the time for Kerry to be haste or reckless. He needs to be cunning. I know he has it in him but maybe he's ill advised?

Shok

6. Still just namecalling .. he needs to "move the game"
I do agree that "cowards" is far better than "stuffed suits."

Right now it's "Kerry insulted troops ... Yes or No."

All the apology-demanding in the world won't change that dynamic.

He needs to up the ante, "make it real" on them.

Frankly I'd be shocked if he had the spine. I was hoping to capitalize on the desperation factor.

Impeachment is their nightmare. They will run like toadies at the very mention of the word.

14. War Crimes would work ... But Waiting is Surrender
Right now, they've set the frame and gotten the last word.

Waiting means he's weakly capitulating to the Euphemedia parrots squawking "he's hurting the party, oh my!"

The same is true for "I've said my piece."

Unless he turns the boat into the shore at them the story will be:

"Kerry's bonehead comment that may have insulted the troops, which caused ... (whatever they feel like blaming on it)."

If he did take the initiative and "up the ante" or "move the game," this could be a watershed event, where the DC/Euphemedia Analstocracy -- including the careerist, toady Dem "strategist" members -- get an object lesson on just how detached from reality their worldview has become.

He hasn't got much time. And if past non-performance is any indicator, I wouldn't hold my breath.
