Al Gore Seeks Recognition for 'Inconvenient Truth,' Revives Talk
of Pursuing 2008 Presidency

By BETH FOUHY

NEW YORK Dec 11, 2006 (AP)— Al Gore is waging a fierce campaign for recognition
and an Oscar statuette for his global warming documentary, while reviving talk
that he's pursuing a bigger prize: the presidency.

His recent itinerary has been the ultimate in high profile. The former vice
president made self-deprecating jokes on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno," offered
ideas on preserving the environment to Oprah Winfrey and her daytime audience and
parried questions on Iraq from Matt Lauer on "The Today Show."

This Saturday Gore is hosting a network of 1,600 house parties across the country
to watch and discuss his documentary, "An Inconvenient Truth," with the Democrat
planning to address the gatherings by satellite hookup. The movie is on the short
list of feature-length documentaries being considered for Oscar nominations.

-snip-

"I am not planning to run for president again," Gore said last week, arguing that
his focus is raising public awareness about global warming and its dire effects.
Then, he added: "I haven't completely ruled it out."

Those words make Gore the 800-pound non-candidate of the Democratic field.

The producers of a movie when the Best Documentary Oscar, and Gore's not listed as a producer. There's no category for Performance in a Documentary.

39. Echo that: any ticket with Big G on the top.
I totally understand it is completely up to VP Gore and his family that will shape his decision to run or not run. So even if he makes it very clear he won't run, I'll understand.

Sorry ... I temporarily reverted back to "childhood mode" - you remember it, don't you? It's when you believed that if you repeated your wish over and over, it would come true. If that didn't work, you put all your energy into one final shot: "PRETTY PLEASE?!?" ;-)

25. Gore
If he runs he will be my candiate. Some will mock him but Gore has 3 things In his favor

1:Right on Iraq from the begining
2:The evironment(this helps In the West)
3:In 2000 he ran as a populist(much to the disapprovol of the DLC.Lieberman even later criticed
this move) and to win In the Midwest Democrats need this

If Gore doesn't run then my support will go towards eather Edwards or Clark. I like Obama but have doudts he could win against Mccain In a general Election(I am willing to bet he will be the Republican Nominee) and I want to win.I don't want another Republican In the white House. However I
like the Idea of Obama as VP(perhapes as Gore's VP)

23. OK, tell me how you filled out those blank lines on that postcard..
The postcard just has a bunch of blank lines, with no instruction as to what should go into those lines! I hate this kind of crap! I wanted to fill it out, but what do I fill out on those blank lines????

Until that form is fixed, I refuse to TRY to fill it out! Any help from anybody would be very much appreciated!

I love Al Gore and I hope he runs or we can draft him in 2008!

33. How?
He's sounding more and more like someone who's going to run for Prez....

I say it's wishful thinking. How exactly did you pull from that that he sounds more and more like he wants to run? It's not like he said he's giving it consideration now.

42. Does anyone else think the title to this article just a touch misleading?
How does the article demonstrate that Al Gore is "chasing" either an Oscar nomination, or a possible candidacy in 2008?

The piece itself is good, it just would have been nice if the author or copy editor would have phrased the title a little bit differently. But then again, maybe I'm just being too picky.
