Still waiting...
All the coverage on MSNBC about the speeches given today (not all that much, actually, as they keep covering the bad weather in FL) and Wesley Clark's name hasn't been mentioned ONCE! Kucinich was just interviewed, Dodd was even mentioned, but NO word of Clark who is the ONLY one with military experience. They go from talking about the DNC speeches to the Iraq war without even acknowledging him. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM???

3. The corporations behind the MSM a scared to death of him and probably
have orders not to mention him or give him any publicity. Bad for business! He might end the war or get rid of the Military Industrial complex, break up media consolidation and win the election which would be death to their profits. Gee...where would they get profits if this war came to an end and where would they get profits if this election wasn't a horse race. If he got as much exposure as Obama and Hillary there wouldn't be a horse race. He'd win in a shut out if the population really got to know the the General...and they know/fear it!

4. really?
He works for Fox for god's sake. I don't think they're afraid of him - I think that until he announces, he's just not particularly newsworthy.

6. OK...I've had it!
Edited on Fri Feb-02-07 02:51 PM by jenmito
Scarborough was just talking to a panel, Anne Kornblut (sp?), Anna Marie Cox, Buchanan, and Jonathan Altar. I THOUGHT they MIGHT have mentioned him bcause the started by showing each of the speakers today, including Clark, but again they didn't bring his name up at ALL. For God's sake, they were talking about how the "ace in the Repubs.' pocket" is Iran and if something happens THERE, they may need someone strong on things other than domestic issues, and Altar brings up Jim Webb as an example of how the Dems. now have some strong Dems. on war issues. Why didn't they mention CLARK???

7. See post #3 for the answer to your question.
You're right...It's damn right MADDENING! I bet it eats at Clark too.
He's the elephant killer in the room and they better start paying attention.

Monkey Funk doesn't know what he's talking about...must have not been around or paying attention for 2004 election.

8. Yeah, I agree...
But it IS maddening!!! Why mention JIM WEBB as an example when Clark was just there as a possible candidate with tons of military experience? (I know-see #3). :hi:

9. Because it wouldn't do to have a qualified candidate....
Edited on Fri Feb-02-07 03:39 PM by FrenchieCat
What would Giuliani, McCain and Romney run on then?

Better not to have Clark mentioned.....cause negotiating peace and winning wars is not what we need to think about right now. These issues are not what is being talked about 24/7 by the media when they aren't playing Gotcha/Personality politics.

Better to boost candidates talking about what we will focus on after we are done with war...which apparently will be never! Just the way "they" want it.

American is about flash and cash. Substance is just another word.

Having been there and done that is too obvious of a bandwagon to jump on.

Hopes and wishes and dreams are always so much more effective! :sarcasm:

11. I agree...
I just HOPE that if/when he announces he's running he gets SOME attention! But I see it happening all over again already. OK, I can see that MAYBE he's not mentioned because he's not an official candidate, but to mention WEBB instead of CLARK when talking about a Dem. who's strong on security???

13. No need to be insulting
I paid very close attention in 2004, and in fact, supported Clark.

But my point still stands - he's not getting a lot of media attention because right now, he's just a retired general and a part-time tv pundit. I don't think the media are afraid of him.

It's funny how everybody claims the media is "afraid" of their candidate. It's nonsense.

16. So we've got a "Just" retired Supreme Allied Commander, 6 senators, and one Frm Senator...and?
I'm glad you think these media generated candidates were your idea...cause that's exactly what the media would prefer that you think. That way everyone can sleep at night.

Kind of like wearing the latest fad and thinking that you're on the cutting edge!

17. I don't really think so.
Has he missed anything yet?

It's a big step, and I don't know if he wants to run just to lose. He does have to decide, but I think he still has a few more minutes!

18. I don't think it's too late -----yet...

But I wish that like Richardson, Obama and others -- he would have at least mentioned that he's officially exploring a run.

He's on Big Ed Schultz' radio program a lot, and he always says ..."Well Ed, I haven't said that I won't run."

Hopefully, his plans will be announced SOON. ~~

Hurry the hell up General!!

20. He hasn't announced his candidacy.
I think that until/unless he does, he isn't going to get all that much coverage. And I suppose there's the possibility he'll decide not to run. I hope he does, but he might not -- depends on a lot of things.

Clinton, Edwards and Obama are, at least for now, the three front-running candidates so they are getting the attention; Biden, Vilsack, Dodd, etc. probably aren't going anywhere (though in politics anything is possible). Considering the number of people who are already known to be running, the media critters aren't likely to talk much about somebody else who hasn't announced yet.

If he does decide to run, though, I hope he doesn't get ignored the way he was last time.

21. But come on...
When they were discussing Dems. being strong on military matters the THs brought up Jim Webb! Couldn't they have MENTIONED Clark and his POSSIBLE run and the value he'd bring to the bunch of candidates now running?
