Oil and profiteering.

7. Whatever happened to the "Pottery Barn Rule"?
So the U.S. invades Iran, then what?
We will be greeted as "liberators"?
The insurgency in Iraq will just go away?
The Taliban will quit and go home?

For God's sake won't someone stop and think this thing through?

:wtf:

10. The way I understand it
it's about the oil. Iraq was supposed to be the easy part, Iran was the goal. We needed to have the bases in Iraq since the Saudi's threw us out after they were threatened by OBL for keeping the infidels on holy soil in Saudi Arabia. The Saudis see Iran as the threat to the oil empire. Seems to have all backfired big time, we pay the price.

11. Neoconservatism requires an evil bad guy.
Edited on Fri Feb-02-07 03:52 PM by HereSince1628
By attacking Iran BUSH _is_ the evil bad guy! Well, that's the reality, anyway.

But Neoconservatism and Strassianism are based on fundamentalist beliefs which in a quite Manicheaistic (sp?) fashion define things in very stark terms of good and evil. A free country can be led away from the "chaos" its liberty leads to if those who would control the nation cultivate a heroic self image that contrasts against the "evils" of the world.

It gives a raison d'etre to national life that, in turn, makes the citizenry willing to set aside the chaos of individual pursuit of happiness in favor of national sacrifice (which as we well know can be quite profitable to the controlling class).

12. All of the above, but most importantly, a pre-emptive strike against Democrats
and their plans to investigate the war crimes of this administration. They'll be counting on a replay of the Democrats shutting their mouths and not letting down the troops while we bomb Iran...because these war criminals will do anything to avoid accountability.

13. To attempt to stop Iran from occupying Iraq ...
... once our troops leave.

One of the worst consequences of Bush's historic blunder is that it has handed Iraq over Tehran cooked and ready to eat.

Amongst the "unfriendly" islamic countries to United States and Israel,
Iran is the ONLY ONE with enough oil money to be able to support nuclear
weapons programs, missile delivery systems and a respectable navy.
