7. I agree with Lou Dobbs about the attacks on the middle class although I disagree with
his demonizing illegal immigrants. Yet another pundit who keeps forgetting if we lock people out, we lock ourselves in.

He does lay a lot of blame on corporations and flawed government policies, though. Then I agree with him. He is the sort of pompous, self absorbed news reader that usually drives me nuts...kind of like Ted Baxter, only not as funny. MKJ

8. There aren't huge differences between a true conservative and most Democrats.
Buchanan is a true, Goldwater esqu conservative. He's got some wacky ideas, but for the most part-he's a far cry from the Republicans in office.

When I say there isn't a huge difference between two conservatives and Democrats- I mean it in terms of objectives. Both sets have the same goals for this country-just different means of achieving it. The folks in power right now have a set of goals that are counter intuitive to what's good for this country.

My family is pretty evenly split along progressive and conservative lines-but in an intelligent way. WE usually have very civil discussions. But, with the exception of one cousin, everyone voted for kerry in the last election. Most of the votes were protest votes...but still. I hope we can get back to the days of "this is the role of the government" debates, and not " we shouldn't be fighting in this made up war" debates. Hell, it isn't even a debate right now.

I'm just annoyed that the impeachment ball hasn't started rolling though congress yet.

10. Joe still takes time to trash Chirac and the UN
Funny, Joe. If we had listened to either of them four years ago this debate wouldn't be occurring now.
