This quote needs to be shouted from the rooftops

When will Pres Bunnypants fire Cheney?

After originally saying "Anyone involved in leaking the name of the covert CIA operative would be fired, Bush told reporters: "If somebody committed a crime, they will no longer work in my administration."

Well It's a crime to conspire to expose a NOC!

1. I'm sorry.
That statement is no longer operative.

2. He can't fire Cheney...
it's a constitutional office. He has to resign, die or be impeached and convicted.

3. Cheney is holding an elected office
He has to be removed from office by congress or prosecuted and jailed.

4. Bunnypants can strongly suggest
that Cheney resign "for health reasons", which I think might be what happens. Of course, with all the stress Cheney is under, with the Libby trial and all, he might very well have to resign for health reasons.

5. Well, the Shrub is in a tough position here.
"Uh, Alberto, what are my options here? Can I fire Dick?"
"Nossir. He was elected to that office. He has to resign, or be impeached."
"Well, he sure as shit aint gonna resign. Can I impeach him?"
"Uh, nossir. Congress has to do that."
"Heh heh. You know what's gonna come of that."
"Yessir. I'm afraid we're stuck with him, unless he dies."
"Oh, come on. You know how he never gets on a plane unless I'm right beside him."

I'm afraid the dilemma is just more than he can handle, poor boy.

6. So, Bush can no longer work in his administration ... by his own words
Let's see ... committing the crimes against the Constitution for the illegal (what is it about Republicans who cannot understand what illegal means - unless it's about immigration?) wiretapping ...

Bush even said so himself that the "wiretapping" could only be done in specific ways ... and yet, he was doing it "above and beyond" the law ...

7. Bush & Cheney commit more crimes before breakfast than most politicians do their entire lives.

8. where's the gain for bunnypants?
regarding bunnypants pressuring cheney to resign - why would he do that?

bunnypants's mis-administration is over in 2 years, after that he goes back to crawford and to cut some brush

bunnypants's doesn't care what people think, so the fact people think cheney should be kicked out doesn't matter

bunnypants's doesn't care about the republican party, so the fact he is destroying it doesn't enter the equation

when asked about his legacy - bunnypants has pretty much dismissed it, from saying it's up to the historians to judge to shrugging and saying "who cares we'll all be dead"

the only thing I can possibly see as leverage is if bunnypants was in a situation where he was facing criminal charges and imprisonment and his only way out would be to get rid of cheney -- not gonna happen
