R-Pres. Cand. Romney calls Clinton 'Timid' in Iran
Romney Says Sen. Clinton 'Timid' on Iran

P.S. What did she actually say? Who has a clip of the full speech?

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney on Friday accused Democratic front-runner Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of "timidity" regarding the security threat posed by Iran. In a speech to a retreat of conservative congressional Republicans, Romney lashed out at Clinton for telling a pro-Israel dinner that a dialogue with countries hostile to Israel - including Iran and Syria - is needed to promote peace in the Middle East.

"At this point, We don't need a listening tour about Iran," Romney told the Republican Study Committee. "Someone who wants to engage Iran displays a troubling timidity toward a terrible threat of a nuclear Iran."

In a speech Thursday night at a Manhattan dinner held by the nation's largest pro-Israel lobbying group, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, Clinton called Iran a danger to the U.S. and one of Israel's greatest threats.

But the New York senator also said, "We need to use every tool at our disposal, including diplomatic and economic in addition to the threat and use of military force" when dealing with Iran.

"I have advocated engagement with our enemies and Israel's enemies," Clinton said. "I believe we can gain valuable knowledge and leverage from being part of a process again that enables us to get a better idea of how to take on and defeat our adversaries.

"U.S. policy must be clear and unequivocal: We cannot, we should not, we must not permit Iran to build or acquire nuclear weapons," Clinton told the audience. "In dealing with this threat ... no option can be taken off the table."

1. Women vote in this country and fewer of them are going to vote
for Mitt Romney than he must imagine.

His comments seem designed to taunt Senator Clinton, to provoke her into an outburst which the GOP hopes will help discredit her candidacy.

Romney's playing the role of the pseudo-confident boy bully teasing the class's smart girl on the playground.

He dresses better than most 7-year olds but the behavior looks about the same.

Do you mean the Republicans you know aren't supporting Romney? I can see their problem for 2008. They don't have a really viable candidate. There are grievous flaws to every single Republican in the race.

Hagel shines on one issue, but after that, he's about as unelectable as most of the others. Smart guy, but long long miles away from Pennsylvania Avenue.

6. Thank you, Old Crusoe.
The Republicans I know are the moderate/conservatives who voted for Bush in the last election out of party loyalty. Their view of our government is strikingly similar to ours. They vow to never vote for a Republican anything until the country has regained her balance and international prestige abroad.

7. Their vow sounds encouraging. Even Republicans deserve better
candidates than they're getting lately.

Right now 2008 looks very promising for us, and I'm looking forward to working with Democrats and Independents to turn the map even bluer than it was last November.

Very nice to meet you on DU.

2. Looks like the attack dogs are already out in full force
Romney is the biggest joke the Republican Party has ever had to offer. Them nominating him would be a blessing to us. Hillary would smack him down.
