Here's proof WES CLARK is going to run!
Bigtree posted this in another thread.

"Nevada to host Democratic debate: Richardson, Clinton, Biden, Gravel, Vilsack, Clark, Dodd in."

Clark accepted an invitation to be in the Nevada Democratic debate on
February 21...so he MUST be running. No more beating around the bush. He's in!!!!!

1. A Debate? This soon?
I hope this is just a rumor. Way too early for this.

25. I think we should always be debating
all the time. The minute we stop debating is the minute when we say "ok, things are perfect, let's take a break for a while".

...and as we know that hasn't happened yet (has it?)

Good thing Dodd's in too, so Biden will have someone fresh to copy his answers from.

6. I agree with you there......
I actually think that the bottom tier are more experienced in what they've done and more sincere in what they say than the top tier strung up all together.

I think this 2nd tier will bring some levity to the media generated 3 top frontrunners.

“I speak to you today as the only person who will take this podium before you to have actually done the things we need to do to succeed in Iraq, Afghanistan and throughout the world,” Clark said. (2/3/07)

14. Is that confirmed?
I'd love to believe a posting by someone here on DU, but is that confirmed on Clark's schedule?

I ask because I was recently told by his scheduler at WesPac that they weren't accepting invitations to events like this in early states (I am in Iowa)...obviously this has changed....or else smoke was blown in my lower orifice.

17. I'm so surprised!!
He's hosting a Conference March 6 & 7, at the Burkle Center for International Relations, and I honestly didn't think he would announce before that! Well, can he still participate in debates before he announces? Sorry if that's a stupid question! :/

18. It's not stupid! Perfectly legitimate question.
But I don't think he'd be allowed in a debate if he wasn't a candidate? But who knows...maybe they made an exception? However, I doubt if the front runners (H,E & O) would allow such a thing without putting up a big stink. I think more likely...if he hasn't announced by the 21st...then the author of the article made a mistake...and that's possible and wouldn't be the first time.
Also, maybe it's not on the Clark site because they don't want the news leaked out yet.

27. I was there
When this picture was taken, Brian Williams was asking why there had never been a Vietnam Vet in the Oval Office, and was this about to change? Hagel deferred to Wes. "Ask this guy," quipped Hagel. Wes moved the question to why it was important to get Dems elected in 06.

Reminds me of all the fun we had on DU in '03 drooling and posting hubba hubba pictures of Clark. Even ones in his bathing suit! Are we all grown up now? Just wondering? I'm feeling pretty young myself...besides they say you are as old as you feel and if you think you're young you'll live longer. I'm going to live to be 100...thanks to Clark! :loveya:

We Need Another Old Hickory

by Mike Lyon

I served in the Army. I love my Country. I have opposed this war from the beginning. I knew that Saddam was contained and I knew that the case for war was trumped up by the Bush Administration. I knew that Democrats voted for the Resolution in 2002 purely based on popular opinion, politics, and job security.
I despised them for it.

In 2004 I worked for General Clark but unfortunately, and incredibly, Iowa sealed his fate and John Kerry sprinted to the nomination. The remainder of the election cycle was a countdown to escalation in Iraq as we watched the candidates play bait and switch without ever really having a discussion about a resolution that would put an end to the war. John Kerry is a good man and may have been a great president but Bush was reelected because Kerry and the Democratic Party were not seen as trustworthy enough to lead our Country. Such a conflation is a tough pill to swallow.

~ snip ~

Today we find ourselves in another difficult position, specifically, in regards to how domestic politics gums up our foreign policy. We must have a President that understands that it is much more dangerous to avoid diplomacy and to ignore long term strategy than it is to fight what may seem like the right war at the right time or to retreat and leave the region in predicament much worse than how we found it. Wes Clark has spent his entire adult life serving our Country. He offers a very sober and professional prospective to a debate that, at times, seems sorely in need of adult supervision.

Like another General, a couple of centuries ago, I hope Wes will make the decision to give it another try; I believe that Americans will find that Wes Clark is worth another look.

Is the information accurate? If it is, it seems like a pretty huge hint for those of us trying to learn whether General Clark is going to run. Does anyone have a reliable source?

33. This will come as quite a shock to South Carolina
Sixth District Congressman James E. Clyburn, ’61, and S.C. Democratic Party Chairman Joe Erwin traveled to SC State on January 8, 2007, to make a monumental announcement: SC State will host the first candidates’ debate of the 2008 U.S. Presidential Election cycle.

The Democratic Presidential Candidates’ Debate will be broadcast live from SC State’s Martin Luther King Jr. Auditorium on Thursday, April 26, at 7 p.m., and will be produced by NBC News.

Edited on Wed Feb-07-07 12:43 AM by Auntie Bush

http://hotlineblog.nationaljournal.com/archives/2007/02/hillarys_in_it.html

It was originally called a forum but then referred to as a debate later in the article as if they were interchangeable.

You're right...it is really a forum. But would they invite him to join them if they didn't KNOW he was seriously planning to be a candidate? I bet he has told the committee (off the record) he plans on being a candidate...but CAN'T announce until after the March 6th and 7th meeting because he would come across as bias by being a Democratic Presidential Candidate. Notice no other Presidential want-a bes were invited. Not even Nader! lol
