Is Rupert Murdoch tilting towards Hillary in 2008?
Edited on Sun Feb-11-07 12:35 AM by IndianaGreen
We all know about the big fundraiser that Murdoch held for Hillary's 2006 Senatorial campaign. Is he now tilting towards Hillary in 2008? There certainly has been a lot in the MSM recently about Hillary's purported "inevitability." Could she be the Establishment's choice, as Bush was in 2000? Murdoch did support Tony Blair in the past. Could he do the same and support the Democratic nominee if he/she were a neolib corporatist?

I was reading the entertainment section of The Guardian and there was an article about how Murdoch jumped the gun on a sequel to Borat because he had not gotten Sasha Baron Cohen onboard. The article had this very intriguing tease about Murdoch and Hillary:

The gaffe that has industry insiders puzzling came when Mr Murdoch, attending a media conference here last week, began scattering opinions on topics ranging from the state of his company, News Corporation, to whom he would most like to see running for the US presidency. He delivered back-handed compliments to Hillary Clinton and fingered China as a country too tough to do much business in.

<snip>

As for the US presidency, he said he would like to meet Barack Obama and wishes the former House Speaker, Newt Gingrich, would throw his hat in the ring.

But he threw ice over recent chatter about his closeness to Hillary Clinton and ex-president Bill. He said a fund-raiser that he hosted for her last year had been the idea of "some people" in his office. While praising her competence as she makes her bid for the White House, he said she was "divisive" and "calculating".

As we can see from the article just quoted, despite Murdoch's support for Hillary in 2006, the same does not hold true for 2008. We can rest assured that Murdoch, and Faux Noise Network, will continue to propagandize support the rightwing Presidential candidate, and continue the swiftboating of the Democratic candidate.

1. Rather An O. Henry Ending There, My Hoosier Friend
Perhaps we could promote side-bets on what proportion will respond to the headline as a declaration, and not actually read the piece?

I should be obvious enough....

6. probably
she is shrewd and coniving. The idiot that they have now is too obvious about the US slaughter of the wrolds people. Hillary will be able to put a velvet glove back on the iron fist while slamming it down on another country. It will pacify the liberals in the US long enough to drench another part of the world in blood.

7. She will get
"international support" and be a "strong woman" while "saving" some hapless souls from "genocide" somewhere. Bet on it. Sudan is sitting on lots of oil...God knows the government doesn't care about the people.

Is the Sam Walton of media losing his mind? Apparently his cozy appearing support of Hillary was the idea of Rupert's office. As, he calls her "divisive" and "calculating." I hope his deadly Midas touch is drawing to a close. Hillary and Murdoch were just too weird a couple!

9. He'll stab her in the back
once the primaries are over. But it is pretty clear, that he's doing some dirty work for her now especially against Obama.

Does anyone think Hillary will get good coverage in the NY Post and Fox News against Giuliani, McCain, or whomever other slimeball the repukes put up?

10. Murdoch connection is reason to be wary.
When I see someone like Murdoch being buddy-buddy with Clinton, then I'm looking for someone else. This country doesn't need more kissing up to these corporation scum.
