Anyone see Obama on 60 minutes
The man is quick on his feet and answers all the questions asked. he even says he has to earn the African American vote like any other votes.he said he will respect the voters if they reject him as the nominee.

6. You can't hold the doors open on the Senate subway
He wasn't being dissed - the doors just slammed shut before he could get on and there wasn't anything anyone on the train could do.

I love the part about the daughters thinking if they move into the White House they'll get a dog!

4. He gave all the right answers. I didn't hear one evasive word.
And how much do I love that his wife's condition for running this race was that he give up smoking? And his answer to that was perfect, too.

11. This guy is awesome
Edited on Sun Feb-11-07 07:50 PM by KKKarl is an idiot
When he was asked about his drug use. He spoke about how in national politics people try to "airbrush" themselves. If you did it say you did it. The great thing about him is that he is not heavily tainted by playing politics. He is a plain old good guy. He is definitely my choice for president.

12. Obama is the Man!
Edwards has been my choice up unti now. Now I'm not sure. Obama is just so open and honest which is the antithesis of what we have now. He and his wife are so brilliant....the antithesis of what we have now. He's articulate...the antithesis...well, you get it..

13. He's authentic. He may win on that alone. I imagine "being real" may
be a good thing in this election season.

18. Excellent.
He was excellent. I could tell he wasn't as polished, a bit green, compared to some of the others. But that's okay.

(Pardon the intrusion. Independent lurker here.)

20. I know a couple Republicans that would vote for him
They admit that he's too "liberal" for their taste on most issues, but feel that he would make a great president.

He has that same appeal that Russ Feingold has with people on the other side of the political aisle. Some Republicans like Russ because they know he stands for what he believes. The same can be said with Obama.

26. It's weird- me too. Even some racist ones.
I have a buddy (sorry, it is hard to NOT have friends in Augusta, GA who are not Republican or somewhat ignorant on race, or both)who likes him.

"He is the only one who is making any sense-he seems like a really smart guy"- is what he says. This is a guy who uses the "n-word" every now & then as well.

I know this is anecdotal, but what I am saying is that if this type of strange bird can warm up to Obama, then he may just be on to something.

22. Obama is the most charismatic candidate
to throw his hat into the ring.

The media's coverage of him as a candidate has already been pissing me off, though. I'm glad that he was so candid in his interview, and his treatment of the questions regarding black voters in particular was impressive. The media has already been making a big deal over whether or not he can garner the black vote in 08. I don't remember seeing anyone making the same kind of deal about McCain or Clinton. So, just because he happens to be half African American, it is a bigger deal if he can get the black vote. Either way, the candidate that will be nominated will need to get the vote of as many groups as possible, and I find it offensive and discriminatory that it matters whether Obama can get that particular set of people, but no one is exploring the same data in relation to other candidates.

Obama is one of the great orators I've ever heard speak...he doesn't sugarcoat anything with what people want to hear. He tells it straight, and that's why, at least for now, he has my vote.

23. I saw part of it, it was a very nice interview
He has a charming family--and I hope the kids get their dog.

I don't have a favorite candidate yet, but in the all important "Who would you find it least painful to be stuck next to on an airplane seat" catagory, he wins hands down.

28. I thought he was very impressive -- and his wife as well
Smart, but ever so human.

I am a Gore fan. I hope he runs and chooses Obama to run with him. We would have the White House for 16 years, no question.

If Gore does not run, I can see myself supporting Obama. I like Edwards too, but I think I like Obama more.
