Keep in mind that Bush thinks the "surge" will work because he told the military leadership in Iraq that it has to work. See? It will work because it must work. Like that one Star Trek episode where they were at the OK Corral (it's complicated) about to be gunned down by the Earps, and the knockout gas that Dr. McCoy concocted didn't work. If the surge doesn't work, it's because the laws of physics don't exist and we're in some alternate universe where nothing is for sure -- at least in Bush's overwrought mind.
