Rudy Giuliani: CLOSET DEMOCRAT
in his dreams.

As much as I can't stand the sight of him, I kind of hope Giuliani gets the Republican nod. Not that he will, though. I highly doubt if the conservative Republican base would ever go for someone they perceive as being Mr Democratic-Lite.

Seriously, I think Giuliani has always wished he was a Democrat. Thing is, he's too much of a fucking dipshit to have ever been considered for our party, and that's why he's so bitter, because he had to settle for a party that was dumb enough to be a good match for him. The guy is nothing but an arrogant jerkoff.

However, if that asshole does get the Republican nomination, and I doubt he will, all we have to do is label him as "Rudy Giuliani, CLOSET DEMOCRAT"...or "Rudy Giuliani: DEMOCRATIC WANNABE".

Once he's nicely fitted with a label like that, which ties him to Democrats (just in their minds, not in ours), he's finished. There would be no greater pleasure than to see him get his wannabe ass kicked in the general election.

2. Giuliani WAS a democrat, registered and everything -- before
Ronald Reagan was elected in 2000. He switched parties and he suddenly was appointed to be the federal prosecutor for southern district of New York State (that is, New York City). Giuliani even liked Bobby Kennedy (when it was politically expedient, I suppose).

6. Absolutely agree. Who was it that said about Democrats acting like Republicans...
"Why vote for an immitation when you can have the real thing?"

In any case, that saying cuts both ways.

8. "Why vote for an immitation when you can have the real thing?"
Now that is GOOD!

This is the kind of ammo (labels) we're going to have to be thinking ahead on. They like playing the label game? Well let's give it right back to them in 2008.

Okay, so we've got Giuliani covered. Next we need a good label or two for McCain, something catchy that turns everyone off about him including half of his own people.

11. I'm not really that concerned about Giuliani anyway
as you alluded to in your OP, how the hell is a pro-choice, pro-gay rights, thrice-married candidate -- who has photos of himself in drag readily available across the Internets -- ever going to make it out of the GOP primary?

The oceans will boil and the moon turn to blood before Giuliani gets the GOP nod.

13. I'm not either, but it's never to early to start thinking ahead, just in case
We can't let Republicans be the only ones sitting there in their dark corners, thinking up ways to give any future Democratic candidates slanderous labels that catch on. We need to return the favor and beat them at their own game next time.

9. How does he think he'll get the nod?
How many pro-choice, pro-gay Republicans are in office? I just don't see it happening. For how much they say Dems need to pass a litmus test, the Republicans are the ones who won't let it slide nationally.

10. Sorry, But I have to disagree
As far as 'the base' goes, I figure they're not going to be voting for Democrats in any election just as I refuse to vote for a Con (even in numerous cases where that is the only option available to me). The remaining 60 percent or so, somewhere around have of that is considered swing. Those are the ones who voted for Democrats in 2006 and if the polls are correct, are also looking for a Democrat in 2008. Giving him a 'Democratic' label may very well encourage them to vote for Guiliani while staying true to their 'registered Republican' status.

As far as the social cons who control the Party's nomination, Guiliani is shifting his rhetoric on social issues so that it might just be enough for them to hold their noses in favor of him. Appointing "Conservative Judges" speaks VOLUMES to them and is really their bottom line on things because they know that has a greater impact than anything else.

My choice would be to pin him at the hip to Bush as strong and vocal support of failed foreign policy. Let the social issues sort themselves out in the backrooms of the Cons, but bring the Foreign Policy of Eternal War to the front and center with blinking neon lights!

How many times will they try this? The real question; Is America still stupid enough to fall for their sack of lies again and again?

14. Based on some of the comments around here...
It would be interesting to see Rudy Giuliani CLOSET DEMOCRAT running against Hillary Clinton CLOSET REPUBLICAN (as I have heard some refer to her as). That would certainly confuse the voters and the pollsters.

15. LOL!!!
Even as someone who's often defended Hillary around here, I think that's one of the funniest posts I've heard in a long time...and very appropriate, considering the subject of this thread. Good one, Hugh!

17. Once he gets the nomination
the LAST thing you want to do is get voters to think he is a "closet Democrat". All this does is increase his appeal as a centrist/moderate (ala Lieberman) who is willing to consider both sides and be less partisan.

That said, if this were really to happen I personally do not hate him so much that I would fear him so badly. (as badly as I do some of the others).
People must know here that in 1994 he endorsed Mario Cuomo for governor (right beofre he lost to Pataki), and that twice Guiliani was endorsed by the Liberal Pary of NY State.

18. Trust Me, The LAST thing you want is for Giuliani to be Elected
Not that we will have a fair election, and not that we'll have much of a choice who our next King (Or Queen) will be, but Giuliani would be a Death Knell for this country.

He should be viewed as such by any voter.

20. Closet dictator. Dangerous lunatic. Don't wish for him.
After someone like Bush being installed, how can anyone think one person's qualifications have anything with his chances to be POTUS? If the machine wants Rudy, hel'' get it. MSM will beatify him 24/7 (for free) and that will trump anything else.
be careful for what you wish.
