Does the NYT editorial board reads the NYT?
NYT editorial December 2004:

Only Congress can hold the administration accountable and begin to repair the damage to American values and America's image caused by the mistreatment of prisoners. Republican and Democratic senators - like John McCain and Lindsey Graham, and Hillary Clinton and Carl Levin - have tried hard to investigate prisoner abuse. But Republican leaders have ignored the issue. Senator John Kerry never even raised it during the campaign.

NYT article August 2004:

Kerry Renews Call for Rumsfeld to Resign

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Published: August 25, 2004

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry on Wednesday renewed his call for Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to resign and urged President Bush to appoint an independent investigation to provide reforms after a report faulted all levels of the military for abuse at Abu Ghraib prison.

"It's not just the little person at the bottom who ought to pay the price of responsibility," Kerry said at a Philadelphia union hall. "The buck doesn't stop at the Pentagon."

Snip...

Kerry said an independent investigation should review the decision-making process that led to the abuses and provide comprehensive reforms to ensure abuses do not recur.

Kerry initially called for Rumsfeld's resignation in September 2003, initiated a very visible petition drive calling for Rummy's head, and mentioned it several times on the campaign trail. How could the NYT editorial board miss this?

Send them a LTTE and correct them or at this point, just call them and tell them they screwed this country over bigtime with their constant shoddy reporting and editorials that still couldn't get the facts right - always reaching to smear Democrats, ANY Democrat who sticks their neck out.

2. The NYT is trash, I stopped subscribing years ago

Double talking liars run the show there and publish the likes of Krugman just to maintain a liberal facade.

6. I have conflicting feelings about the Times, but it's hardly just Krugman
that they publish: Herbert, Dowd, Kristoff, Rich, etc. And they have some terrific reporters, and are one of the very few papers that does real investigative reporting. In addition, they have published some really hard hitting editorials over the last few years. So yeah, it's flawed, but I think it's well worth reading.

The pathetic part is that Kerry DID raise it and called for Rumsfeld to go 3 times
and NYT editors are plain old STUPID and never paid attention.

4. This also came up in Rolling Stone, Nov. '04.
Not that that's related, exactly, but it shows that you don't have to be a wonk to have noticed JK's stance on this.

5. evidently not
The NYT is not the newspaper of excellence it used to be. While their news reporting section is still decent, their editorial section has deteriorated and become something of a joke.
Most of the op-eds lack facts. While it is expected to find opinions in op-eds, the authors should at least base those opinions on diligent researching of facts.
