Libby's Bad Memory Defense...
I was thinking about this today.

I sometimes have a bad memory. I'm usually really good with names and faces, but I often forget where I heard a certain joke or story, or where I read a piece of news.

This happens with the Internet all the time. I read something I like, and I cant remember the next day where I read it.

Libby's defense however, appears to based on his inability to remember where and when he learned about Valerie Plame. But that isnt really his defense is it? His defense is actually, that he remembered, but that he remembered incorrectly.

Think about this. If I dont remember something, I dont remember. If someone were to ask me about the event, my answer would be "I really dont remember". I dont state as fact that I remember something, only to have it be wrong.

Libby is guilty. He remembered just fine where he heard the name, and then he lied.

Just my thoughts.

1. Were there any smoking guns to help jog Libby's memory?

2. No. They had Cheney towel boy John Hannah...
on the stand today.

His whole premise was that "Scooter" often forgot things during the day, and would act later like he never heard them.

Like he never heard them. Thats a lot different than 'I heard them incorrectly'.

4. Actually more like, he repeated it like it was his own idea
when it came from someone else. Like Hannah himself.

A juror asked through the judge (judge in this case allows that FYI for those not following closely) if Libby ever denied having heard such things from Hannah in the first place when asked. Like, did he persist in denying he must have heard it from someone else when that detail is brought up and made prominent.

Hannah said no.

This is a problem...

5. I remember where I was when news came of the JFK assassination
and I remember the face of the girl who brought the news into my Sophomore English class that afternoon, and I remember the class I went to after that English class, but I don't remember what I had for breakfast that day. The day was still ordinary and unremarkable when I had breakfast, but it was no longer ordinary after we got word of the shooting.

Given the attention Cheney & Libby were paying to the whole Wilson business, and the unmistakable illegality of what they were doing, I don't think there was anything ordinary or unremarkable about being told Valerie's identity.
