In listening, on and off, to the debate on the non-binding resolution, I am getting more and more pissed off - at OUR side.

I am becoming more and more convinced that the Republicans have it right. If we're against this war, and clearly we are, along with the overwhelming majority of our fellow citizens, why NOT just vote to cut the funding?

The Republics are calling for this so they can have a talking point they think will work for them. We voted to cut the funding, making us cut and runners and supporters of our enemies, and all the other rhetorical drivel we KNOW they'll spew until their shoes can't be seen for the spittle covering them.

So fucking what?????

The country wants OUT of this war and they want out now.

Will our side be attacked by the minority party if we so vote? Of COURSE we will. But listen up, DC people. You're already being attacked.

And guess what, Republic Party strategists. You better be damned careful what you wish for.

Stinky the Clown predicts: If the Democrats defund this war, the debate that follows will be won ..... by the Democrats. It IS what the country wants. Its why they elected us.

Its the right thing to do.

I am blessed this DU fundraising season, with more than few donor hearts. I hereby volunteer to turn every one of them in as trade-ins toward one pair of EFFECTIVE, big, shiny, heavy, BRASS BALLS for the congressional Democrats.

Do the hard work, people.

Vote to defund this stupid fucking war and do it with your head held high and those brass balls swinging proudly.

The House will begin debate today on a simple, tightly worded resolution opposing the deployment of additional combat troops to Iraq, even as Democratic leaders move forward on binding language that would curtail those deployments and begin to bring troops home.

Waiting in the wings is binding legislation that would fully fund Bush's $100 billion request for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan but add four conditions: Soldiers and Marines could be deployed to Iraq only after being certified as fully trained and equipped. National Guardsmen and reservists could be subject to no more than two deployments, or roughly 12 months of combat duty. The administration could use none of the money for permanent bases in Iraq. And additional funding for the National Guard and reserves must be spent to retool operations at home, such as emergency response.

"It's only the bark," Rep. James P. Moran Jr. (D-Va.) said of this week's resolution. "The real bite comes with the spending bill."

You're so damn right. The right wing's whiny tape recording of "weak on defense", "weak on national security" won't wash this time because the people clearly see how the bush republican Congress has severely weakened our military.

But people also see Democrats' unwillingness to take a tough stand to end this war. If we are seen as weak against this stinkin' war, they'll see us a weak period.

Being strong on national defense and security matters means strongly opposing this disaster. Why don't they get it?
