SILVER CITY — The Grant County Democratic Party has signed a resolution in support of New Mexico Senate Joint Resolution 5, which calls on Congress to commence an investigation and impeachment proceedings against President George Bush and Vice President Richard Cheney.

The move by county Democrats was debated by those who attended a Wednesday meeting. But Matt Runnels, chairman of the Grant County Democratic Party, said the resolution simply confirms what was done at the state Democratic convention last March.

"It was local activists getting out and expressing their opinion and using democracy to their advantage," Runnels said.

But the local and state resolutions beg the question of the role state government should take in national affairs. Runnels said Grant County's role is one of bolstering support...

4. One more vote for the Greatest Page...
We just need one more.

Everybody needs to see this, to see what is possible if Congress won't take care of business voluntarily.

7. OMG - I grew up in NM and went to NMSU (70 +/- miles)
There are great minerals and crystals found in the area but it was soooo RED and backwater. I hear it is becoming more of an artist community now.

.....Silver City.... just - Wow.

8. This is a grassroot movement across the country to impeach a tyrant
The Washington politicians want impeachment off the table and they don't want to vote to end the war, but to their surprise and increasing annoyance, the American people are no longer taking "No" for an answer.

The good citizens of New Mexico deserve our support and emulation in this most noble of endeavors.

10. Hold the phone, BIG problem with this Impeachment resolution stated in the article.
"Gallegos said the resolution would probably have to go before the voters for final approval if it passes the Legislature. But that would not happen until 2008, when Bush's term ends."

That's crazy that this resolution may end up doing nothing because of it having to get approved by the voters in 08. It shouldn't be put off for 22 months till it'll be useless because of that.
