Dick(less) Morris promotes a Newt run in 2008 **LOL!!**
Edited on Tue Feb-13-07 10:48 PM by jefferson_dem
Damn, how desperate must the repukers be to try to resurrect the "good old days" of old newtie ...

Here comes Newt

To echo the famous Negro League pitcher Satchel Paige: “Don’t look back, Newt Gingrich might be gaining on you.” Newt, consigned by many observers to Elizabeth Dole or Dan Quayle status in this GOP nominating process, appears to be moving up into contention, overtaking former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and battling to be the conservative alternative to either former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani or Arizona Sen. John McCain.

<SNIP>

As McCain drops in the polls — he’s down to 22 percent while Rudy is up at 34 percent in the latest Fox News poll — some conservatives seem eager for a “real Republican” to challenge for the nomination. Their first choice, former Virginia Sen. George Allen, lies a-moldering in the grave and his runner-up, former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, has gone home to Tennessee.

Most observers assumed that Romney would fill the void. But he doesn’t seem to have been able to do so. It may be a racist refusal to vote for a Mormon or, more charitably, Romney’s flip-flop-flip from pro-life to pro-choice to pro-life, or it may have been his inconsistency on gay issues, but Mitt seems to be going the way of his father — out of contention. The Fox News poll, which recorded a surge to up to 8 percent of the GOP vote in its Dec. 5-6 tally, now has Romney dropping back to only 3 percent of the vote.

Enter Newt. Hungry for new ideas and desperate after losing Congress, Republican voters seem to be rallying to the only real genius in the race — the former Speaker. The statute of limitations seems to have expired on his personal scandals and Gingrich is striking a responsive chord among conservatives.

7. Dick(head) Morris
I saw an interview with Morris last week on Australian tv and he had the hide to tell us that Condy had an impoverished upbringing. That she pulled herself up out of the gutter and that Hilary was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. The Clintons must have really done the dirty on him for him to be coming out with such bullshit.

15. I'm not actually new to DU
My computer finally "cashed in its chips" a couple of months ago, so I eventually got a new system- changing over from dial-up to broadband and changed over from windows 98 to Vista. Because I had to change my email address I re-registered with a different user name. I used to be Ausgail. May I say how happy I am that the Democrats have finally put some sanity back into Congress. George Bush has become a shrinking violet overnight.

My nerd of a Prime Minister is starting to look worried about our up and coming election later this year. George Bush has now become a major liability for him. Bush's fellow war criminal (Cheney) is visiting Australia next week and I'm trying frantically to find out if there are any organized demonstrations happening because I want to take part.

America will never elect a man whose name make him sounds like some kind of Germanic amphibian. Plus, he looks just like Benny Hill!

If that man gets the nomination, I will be SEVERELY disappointed if our side doesn't run at least ONE negative ad against him using "Yakety Sax" in the background (the Benny Hill theme song.)

17. Isn't he ALWAYS writing ant-Hillary books?
Oh man, I would love to see that bastard Newt get the nomination. And even though I don't particularly like Hillary, it'd be kinda cool to see the Clintons take that sort of revenge on him.

13. Where do I write a check...
I'd love Newt to run. That would just be the easiest person to run against...we'd start with a re-enactment of him handing his divorce papers to his wife as she lay there with breast cancer... then him having an affair with his intern WHILE he attacking Clinton for having an affair with his intern...
