Photoshoppers: Ed Schultz Fake Book Cover Contest

I'm not sure if you heard Ed Schultz pretty much reveal himself as a closet-Repig today in the first hour of his show. He dissed AAR and a lot of progressives in general with his own brand of fatshit dumbass redneckery in full splendor.

So, how about a contest?

Grab the blank cover of Ed's book and title it accordingly. I'll submit one momentarily. Have at it.

3. all things considered, I dont really like the current AAR shows
much. The only AAR show i like anymore is Randi. I liked it a year ago, before they screwed with Morning Sedition & Malloy, but now I only listen to the Stephanie Miller Show, then Ed, then Randi, then Malloy. Lucky my local station carries the lineup i prefer...

6. Did you hear what Ed was saying about Malloy?
He basically called him a no-nothing loser that isn't even on the radio.

Um...Mike is on Sirius and Nova M Radio.

12. I take these things with a grain of salt, they are competitors.
Ed is on target 90% of the time, he is a bit to the right of me but that doesnt make him bad. He helps get the message out to more moderate citizens, while Malloy is a' preaching to the choir and is able to let loose... they all serve their purpose. Its good to have varying degrees of talk personalities, unlike the righties who are hard right wing on all their shows, we will bring our message to a wider audience.

15. Ed showed his cards today for me...he can kiss it goodbye as far as I'm concerned
He thinks he's playing football... if his idea of "being competitive" is to trash AAR and their message, he only feeds the Hannitys and O'Lielly's of the World with his careless crap.

I used to think he was a moderate until today...he must have cabin fever or something.

bellowing like a stuck pig. Screaming about not taking it anymore from AAR. What was that all about ?

8. Sam Sedar wanted Thom Hartmann in his slot on XM Radio
Suddenly it's some kind of pissing contest. What was very revealing about Ed today was that he pulled the mask off his schtick.

9. I like the big guy.. Last week he had Kerry, H.Clinton, Feingold & Obama on..

Also Tom Matzzie of MoveOn.Org, and I can't remember who else.

Plus, no one -- and I mean NO ONE --- is able to reel in General Clark more than the redhead from Fargo!! General Clark LOVES Big Ed!

He's highly successful in that --- while many other progressive stations are struggling, his show is doing incredibly well..

From what I've read on his forum, Sam Seder isn't happy about Eddie being added to XM, and is asking his listeners to petition to keep him off..

Whether Mr. Seder doesn't want someone with Eddie's ratings on is beyond me.. but you can read about it on his board - http://edschultz.invisionzone.com/index.php?showtopic=24944

Rock on Eddie.. there's plenty of room for MORE -- not less -- progressive talk!

11. Did you hear him trashing AAR and progressives today? It was pathetic
I've listened to him and he's usually pretty tolerable. But today, he went into a world that made me think it's all an act and that he really is just an opportunist.

He needs to be spanked hard, imho. I could handle not having to hear him anymore at this point. Thom Hartmann is a much better progressive with a brain than Ed will ever be.

I thought Ed said that he didn't care what people think... yuh...right...

If you listen to his first hour today (link above), you'll see my point. He even yelled down and cut off callers who honestly thought he was going too far. It was a shameful piece of radio...even worse than anything I've heard on Hannity...

18. My problem with him is that he is basically stupid. He does not
really know the issues. I think he studies and retains enough information for that day's subjects and that is all he knows. He doesn't know what has happened earlier on any given day and his gut reaction to a new subject (introduced by a caller) is to head toward the right. I am sure his studio assistants starting shaking their heads and motioning for him to shut up. Then he says he wants to stay on today's subjects and maybe they can discuss other issues later in the week.

He is an out and out dumb jock pretending to be a progressive radio host. To top it off - he is not entertaining.

He reminds me of all the boys I couldn't stand in high school and college - just another garden variety bully who thinks he is really special because he once wore protective clothing on a field with white lines. He was really showing what a juvenile he is on today's show.

He always gets rave reviews when he's one of the invited radio hosts on Larry King, Dobbs or the other shows and is debating idiots from the right.

It's kinda crazy here (at DU) when it comes to Big Eddie.. seems people either love him or they hate him.

I only go to his forum when he's live chatting, or like today -- when I wanted to see what Sam Seder had asked his listeners to do.. but truth be told, there's quite a few DU'ers over there!

I agree that he's not for everyone -- but I can see why he's so popular.. NO ONE gets the access to Democratic politicians like he does!

It's all good..

17. Gotta agree with Don on this one...

I didn't catch the first 30 minutes of his show today, but he was still pretty ticked about Sam Seder when I was able to tune in..

I'm sorry Zuch -- I don't understand why you think Eddie is a Republican?

He tells his listeners day after day.. "I'm a meat eating, gun-toting, liberal that loves to hunt and fish; if you can't handle that, don't listen"

I do understand that he is VERY pissed at Sam Seder.. but other than what I read on his board -- I only know that Seder doesn't want Eddie on XM radio.

Democrats eating their own if you ask me..

All I ask is that you listen to his dialogue in the first hour. You will find that he reveals himself as a dumb ass jock who still is a Repug by most definitions.

21. Big Ed & Wendy would give the clothes off their back..
Edited on Wed Feb-14-07 02:00 AM by larissa

.. a hot meal, a place to stay, whatever you need in time of dire..

After he returned from NO with Wendy (days after Katrina) they brought a family of 5 who stayed with them for about a month in Fargo.. Eddie was able to get the oldest girl into the college over in University of North Dakota (She's a Fighting Souix now!!) ~~ and she still checks in from time to time, but she loves the school there ~~

After that family moved on..

Wendy wanted to go back to NO and invited another family to stay with them. If you don't know Wendy's background, you might not understand why she's so involved in crisis intervention.

The second family stayed with the Shultz' family for months, and the wound up finding jobs and getting a place in a nearby area (Minnesota side of the line)

Good people.. VERY good people !!! ~~

36. I don't mind Ed, either.
I think he serves a valuable role in the spectrum of leftist talk, and I think this whole AAR thing is pretty much a tempest in a teapot.

And anyway, I seem to recall Randi Rhodes drawing first blood on this. Seems I heard her dissing Schultz long before I heard Schultz ever return fire.

A loudmouthed, obnoxious jerk who thought McCarthy was
a hero and Nixon was a victim...and would give

and no matter how complex and confusing LIFE may be,
it can't hold a candle to PEOPLE.

30. I'm sure they are good people... Ed is a classic conservative
Western Democrat... Face it, most Democrats in North Dakota or Wyoming or South Dakota, or Montana are hardly recognizable as Democrats in other areas of the country.

Having said that, Ed Schultz is driven by ego... He is not my cup of tea because he so often tags too far right and I really don't want to hear him talk about hunting, golf, football 40% of the time, but I understand his appeal to some in the region. He is also not very well informed and that bugs me. And, this episode shows the excess that comes from being so egocentric. Why the hell did he not pick up the phone and call Sam Seder or AT LEAST listen to the supposed offending statements Sam may have made in context.. Sam has a real fondness for Hartman (So do I) so he may have been overly supportive, but that doesn't mean he launched the war against Schultz.. Talking things through--that's how adults settle differences...

25. ed has me torn
frankly I don't think much of Ed, I think he's really short on intelligence, and rarely has policy wonks on his show because of it. I doubt he gives much time to studying issues when he's off air, instead he spendis his money on big toys and watches sports and goes hunting and fishing. That's great if you don't host a political radio talk show 3 hours a day, but it makes you look like a lightweight if you do. But for whatever reason, he is a popular talk show host who manages to bring in better ratings than most of his competitors on the left. He can be a lure to bring wavering conservatives in to listen to liberal radio, so in that way he's an asset, but many times he's painful to listen to, especialy when he's angry and his conservative side comes raging out.
