Y'know, this is probably the first genuinely grass-roots movement we've seen in a while.

3. Democrat is a noun. Democratic is an adjective.
A lot of Republicans do not understand that point of grammar. Adjectives describe, quantify or qualify nouns. Race is a noun. You should have used the adjective form as in "Democratic race," not the noun form that you used. Sorry to be picky. But this will get you in trouble. Makes you look ignorant.

Republican is used both as a noun and as an adjective.

8. Proud to be a Democrat
Sure don't like to see my fellow DUers accused of of "looking ignorant".

Debating this issue is really a waste of time (more than most topics even).

If a friend or co-worker says "I'm voting Democrat" what do you do?

Thank them for their wisdom or slam them for their bad grammar? :eyes:

Honestly - this obsession is starting to wear me down.

NO WONDER the Repubs keep saying it if we keep complaining ....

20. Sorry but we can't accept the way "they" frame us
Democrat is a noun. Period!

To me it's a big deal.

6. Actually, it's the WSJ poll, which is strange
that it includes people NOT running, like Mark Warner and Joe Lieberman. Wonder who would get those votes :D

7. Al Gore in a very strong 4th place!
Not bad when you consider the number of times the media tells us he will not be running in 2008.

Here are the results of the Wall Street Journal poll (conducted online Feb. 2-8, among 3,423 adults):

"Although the U.S. presidential election is not until November 2008, there are a number of people who may run for president. If you were to vote and had to select from the following candidates, for which of the following people would you consider voting?"

Those choosing a Democratic candidate (respondents can pick more than one candidate)

Hillary Clinton 45%
Barack Obama 37%
John Edwards 28%
Al Gore 26%
Wesley Clark 8%
Bill Richardson 8%

http://online.wsj.com/public/article/SB117139500515407551-BvJ5YLbrUKcxHXAjxVMf9s5Gg2g_20080213.html

This poll reinforces my belief that GORE - OBAMA would be a very strong ticket in 2008.

Let's all find ways to show our support for Al Gore! :patriot:

10. The more meaningful stats are here
"If you could vote for one candidate, who would you most likely vote for?"

Base: All adults

Hillary Clinton 20%
Barack Obama 10%
Rudy Giuliani 8%
Colin Powell 6%
John McCain 6%
John Edwards 5%
Al Gore 4%
Other** 12%
Not at all sure 15%

This tells me that the race for 2008 is still wide open.

First, it is an interactive poll. Second when choosing only one candidate Sen Clinton had double the numbers over Obama ( 20 to 10 )

The figures shown are who people would CONSIDER voting for. They could chose more than one.

16. Some of us have heard Dubya's press conferences.
Where he does that vacuous, stammering, chimp-on-acid thing with the White House press corps.

Take any of the Democrats in the poll, and replace the Chimp-in-Chief with that Democrat.

It sure would make for a more listenable, purposeful, and informative press conference.

19. Uh...no again...
Hillary leads 45-37 in a poll which included Republicans and for which you could vote multiple times...which means Hillary is the second or third choice of a significant number...

And when only one candidate was allowed beat him by 10 points...

The headline is misleading...
