Why do you think Tricky Dick Nixon walked so easily? The deal went down when Tricky saw that the Senate impeachment votes were against him so he twisted Ford's arm.

Still pisses me off that the media tried to make Ford out after he died as some kind of all-American hero/healer when he was nothing but another Rethug fixer. Remember, Ford was also on the Warren Commission covering tracks.
