I wonder.....
Does the average person on the street even give a shit about a non binding resolution...

Something that really means nothing, something entirely cloaked in symbolism...

I wonder if spending so much time and political effort on something that is basically irrelevant doesn't further denigrate the opinion most people already have of the American Government...

Scoring short term political points are part of the game, I know that...

But is it really worth all the wrangling and public showboating when in the long run it will mean absolutely nothing...

Bush is already weak and distrusted in the minds of most...

And we all know he is going to do what he wants anyway...

1. It's a good first step. Nobody has FORMALLY countered Lord Pissypants
This resolution is going to make Dear Leader LIVID. Plus, once the Congress has made it's position known, they can key in on the War Profiteering dollars that are appropriated and snip into those excesses.

Yes, I do concur that it's an good start, if only that it puts our wannabe Dictator on notice.

2. I agree that it is, from our perspective here...
After all we are much more tuned into the political process than the average American...

Still, I think they should have gone after the profiteering first...

3. I Thought the Election Was Chimpy's Wake-Up Call
I wish our Democratic Congress would cut to the chase:

(1)  Cut funding for this debacle;

(2) Institute impeachment proceedings immediately.

5. Well, we know the one person who matters most doesn't give a shit
don't we?

Bush said, "Just as long as it's not a binding resolution...."

He does what he wants even when there are LAWS against it. Why on earth would the Congress think a non-binding resolution would affect him? And if they know better (as they should), why the hell are they wasting their time and our loved ones' lives on this?

6. Very Important.
This "Debate" is essential to get the Senators and Representatives engaged in what's going on in Iraq. They have got to have their hands put to the fire to remind them of what is being done in America's name. Let them spend a few days thinking about the families of those 3000+ dead and 30,000 wounded and 650,000 dead Iraqis.

That being said, This democratic congress should shut down GITMO now, and re-establish the rule of law in the USA. Gitmo is America's worse PR nightmare. More respect has been lost because of this Bush/Cheney disregard of the Geneva Conventions than anything ever in all of the US's history.

7. This is not only meaningful it is
the FIRST meaningful examination and debate in Congress since even before the invasion and occupation of Iraq began.

Before this Congress can run they have to learn to walk! Right now they are still learning to stand!
