Saturday vote on Iraq resolution scrambles plans of Senate Presidential candidates
CNN: Thursday, February 15, 2007
Weekend Senate votes cause some '08ers to scramble

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Running for president while holding down a day job is tough, a fact made evident Thursday when five presidential candidates were forced to reassess their weekend campaign schedules after Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid scheduled a vote for Saturday on a resolution condemning the troop increase in Iraq.

New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, who had planned to spend the day in New Hampshire, has moved up the timing of a town-hall meeting in Dover to make it back to Washington in time for the 2 p.m. ET vote.

Delaware Sen. Joe Biden, who had planned to spend the entire weekend in Iowa, is also changing his plans, the senator's office tells CNN.

Sen. Barack Obama, scheduled to be in South Carolina and Virginia Saturday, has yet to decide whether he will venture back to Capitol Hill for the vote, according to his office.

Arizona Sen. John McCain, also scheduled to head to Iowa this weekend, has no plans to change his schedule, his office tells CNN.

Sen. Chris Dodd's office has not yet said whether the Connecticut senator will change his plans to head New Hampshire Saturday.
