'The Rise of Black Power in American Politics' -CNN
This is the topic of a special feature CNN promoted this morning, as something they will be airing on next's week's morning programming. They also specifically mentioned presidential politics when promoting it.

Does anyone else consider this exploitive, inflammatory, and a transparent effort to play on racial fears and stereotypes? It also strikes me as a deliberate attempt to define Obama as a power-hungry black radical, who's primary goal is to achieve power in order to subjugate whites.

Granted, the piece hasn't aired, yet, so my concerns may very well be unfounded. The fact that they are entitling the piece with a term as provocative as 'Black Power' definitely has me on alert.

Am I overreacting, or does anyone else find this disturbing?

And BTW, I'm aware that the Black Power movement in the late sixties was largely non-violent, despite public perception to the contrary. It's the public perception part that I think CNN might be trying to expoit.

1. So long as anything like this creates any amount of unease or uncertainty,
we have a racial problem.

I'm a white, middle-aged male and I'd vote for the Honorable John Conyers for President in a hot second, because he tells and supports the truth. Sums it up for me, I don't care what color or sex or sexuality you are.

3. I'm an African American and don't see it as exploitative at all
Of course I haven't seen and don't know what it contains.

I think it's a good conversation to have. Obama along with the fact that this is Black history and Sweeps Month is probably influencing their programming.
