I'm watching the debate (C-Span2) on the Iraq non-binding resolution that calls for a "sense of the Senate". It does NOT call for the cutoff of funds for Iraq. BTW, for those interested, the vote (on cloture) is supposed to occur at 1:45 pm et today.
Nevertheless, many of the republican speakers have addressed the issue of cutting off funding. Senator Gregg even made the statement that "if you don't support the mission, you don't support the troops."
The poll question is: Is cutting off funds for the Iraq War (not just the surge) equivalent to Not supporting the troops?
I'm always interested in more than just poll results. Please feel free to respond to the following discussion questions:
1. Is the BEST POLICY to cutoff funding for the Iraq War? 2. Is the BEST POLITICS to cutoff funding for the Iraq War? 3. Considering 1 and 2 above, what do you recommend regarding the cutoff of funding.
To "add a little spice", I've separated the responses by the currently leading candidates (alphabetically).
Please note that no disrespect is intended towards any other candidates or potential candidates by not listing them individually. The selection of only three was based strictly on my view as to which candidates CURRENTLY are seen as leading.
