Tony Snow is brilliant
Edited on Sun Feb-18-07 10:49 AM by joeprogressive
After watching him address Russert's fairly tough questions, I realized the genius of this man. If I didn't actually know he was lying every time he opened his mouth I might actually believe him. He is a cool, calculating liar. Unlike his predecessors Scotty and Ari, this guy is much more comfortable telling bald face lies to the American public.

He realizes that all facts will disprove everything he says but as long as he can survive the press conference of the day or a Sunday morning show, he has succeeded at his job; which is to deceive as many sheep as possible.

1. He is revolting, to me. He reminds me of Jon Lovitz's skit on SNL of the pathological
liar, who loves to hear himself fabricate stories. Tony Snow apparently only thinks the phrase, "yeah, that's the ticket", rather than saying it.

Here's my all time favorite photo of him, the Snowjob is Iraq :-)

3. You should check out "Thank You For Not Smoking"
I think you should understand that, to these guys, facts are subjective.

Of course, they co-mingle 'facts' with 'bits of data'. "Data" being unsourced, unverified, etc.

The movie brings out some interesting points.

First, you don't have to *prove* your point to win an argument. You only have to prove the other guy is wrong. Although you haven't really proven anything, any 3rd party will perceive you've won.

See the movie.

17. It's 'Thank You For Smoking', without the 'Not'
You're right, though. That movie depicts "truthiness" superbly.

Anyone who lies through their teeth without regard to our men and women in uniform is soulless, indeed.

6. Actually out of all of Bushes appointments Tony Snowjob is probably the most efficient
at what he was hired to do. Lie Lie Lie Lie… They probably don’t even have to tell him anything, just let him make it up as he goes…

8. Hahaha, I hadn't thought of that...

By telling him stuff, he then has to cross facts with fiction which can be a lot to juggle when he is with the reporters. If, on the other hand, he is told nothing, then there will never be a mistake of bringing a fact to the reporters. Snow probably DOES only read the newspapers to get the so called facts, then he redistiributes it back to the reporters with a some of his own fiction thrown in for good measure.

9. Snow is an actor with scripted responses to scripted questions.
The press makes Snow's acting job so easy. To me, Snow is in the same class as John Fund: Spewer of canned, boilerplate lines (scripted lines which are, in this case, scripted lies). I cannot watch either one of those bit-players (and a few more, too) any more.

13. I don't agree. I had a real respect for Ari's form of lying.
He was cool too. Kind of a salesman, pushed it a little. And often Ari would come up with totally different lies when asked the same question so you couldn't hone in and pick his answer apart.
Maybe it was his showmanship that I liked.

if he were on camera with a real interviewer instead of a white house plant, he'd get shredded like Cheney's OSP minutes.

24. We came to realize that McClellan was not a liar at all.
He obfuscated all the time, but the lies that came from his mouth were words he believed to be true. He quit shortly after realizing that Rove and Cheney had destroyed his credibility.

Snow, however, truly is a lying bastard.

26. "The president has never been stay the course"
followed a couple days later by "he may have said it once or twice". A search of whitehouse.gov found 162 uses of "stay the course" by *, Cheney, and Snow himself. That was one enormous whopper that no one in the WH press corpse called him on.

Enjoy your day here, freeper.
