Democrats about to pass on America's best chance of survival?
--- I'm sorry,... did I say "democrats?" That was unfair. Perhaps I should have included all those vehement Bush opponents, Iraq war opponents, leftists, politically expedient republicans, political junkies, media dupes, etc, etc. And once again (particularly on the DU), it is a gestalt "figure-ground" disconnect,... a failure, if you will, to see the forest for the trees.

--- We have started the 2008 presidential election two years ahead of time,... well,.. at least a year ahead of time. Flush after a successful 2006, the Bush opposition is allowing itself to become preoccupied in its long-awaited end-zone dance,.. to play politics as dictated by the election cycle and the political industry -- and NOT by governmental philosophy or Constitutional intent.

--- Obama. Hillary. The Gore intrigue, and the various darkhorses. Polls, polls, polls. And the war, of course. I hate to say it, but the corporate-driven media and the political industry in general are playing Bush opponents like world-class brain surgeons with a knack for pinball machines. They've got you right where they want you,... content to focus on a single tree,.. while they maintain jurisdiction over the forest.

--- An incomplete list of the real villains in the last six years' ongoing disasterous perversion of Constitutional law would read like this: Exxon-Mobil. Halliburton. Chevron. Texaco. Bechtel. Enron. KBR. Carlyle. Etc. etc. And there are hundreds of overnight, "quickie" corporations formed purely for the purpose of participating in the Bush-PNAC-Iraq federal redistribution UPWARDS of taxpayer dollars. And there is no better time than the present to finally, once-and-for-all make the case to the American people that representative democracy has been "up for sale" for too long,.... that the looming "dictatorship of the rich" has to be averted,... and that corporate perpetrators have to be made to pay a price that would make the expression, "shock & awe" seem pale by comparison. Now is the time,.... after all, the criminals are still at the scene of the crime.

--- Oh, the lame talk about "windfall profits" taxes,.. or war-profiteering is somewhat reassuring,... but it only goes about five percent of the way. Are the democrats prepared to demonstrate that they truly ARE the party of the people? Or do they ultimately work for the same numerically-minute corporatist class, as do the republicans? THAT is the issue at hand. Electing Hillary or Obama,.. the two candidates whom enemies of the Constitution have indicated they are comfortable with,... would do no good in America's long run.

--- Of course, putting dozens of CEO's in prison, and confiscating hundreds of billions in ill-gotten proceeds is difficult,... and a lot less fun than playing electoral politics. And getting their money out of politics is even tougher, eh? Even the goddamned "good guys" don't want that. Why not?

--- Can't answer that question if you're not even thinking about it. Personally, I interpret all the DU's premature preoccupation with Hillary-Obama, etc, as their NASCAR-WWF side coming out,.. though admittedly with a lot of manipulative help from the "other" side. The way things are going, a few small-time corrupt officials and companies will be prosecuted,... but a few scapegoats don't spell the end of de facto control of the federal government and political system by a small corporatist elite. It just means the system is working the way they intended.
