All they ask is our silent, obedient cooperation
What's this I hear about the Democrats controlling Congress?? What we have is a Congress unwilling to admit their mistakes. We need to move on but we can't if our Congress continues to ignore the will of the people. Which brings up the real problem, whom does Congress actually represent?

Lately, on and off for forty years, Congress has acted like they represent themselves and their friends. Like a power structure controlled by the elite - those with billions of dollars.

Let's face it, we people are a problem to those in control. We're a Kept People - debtors held in servitude by creditors, indentured slaves, submissive workers who keep their heads down. They make the rules and we police ourselves... all they ask is our silent, obedient cooperation.

Has anyone got their heating bill for this month yet? Has anyone got a medical problem they can't afford to fixed? Has anyone decided to join the military for the money?

1. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country,
... isn't there?
Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you, and in your panic you turned to the now high chancellor, Adam Sutler. He promised you order, he promised you peace, and all he demanded in return was your silent, obedient consent.

3. This might be a better adaptation
While threats of terrorism and fear of losing the security of one's home, job or life, are very useful weapons of fascists, hate mongers, and all oppressors - they still have no control over words. Words will always retain their power. Words are the means to meaning and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth; and the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there. Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And when once we had the right to object, to think and speak as we see fit, we now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing our conformance and soliciting our submission.

How did this happen? Who is to blame? Of course, there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again, truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. I know why you did it, I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease, there were a million problems that conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you and in your panic you turned to your President, the Supreme Commander and Chief of the Armed Forces, of the United States of America.

He promised you order, he promised you peace, and all he asked of you in return is your silent, obedient, consent.

Well I for one, plan to end that silence and on November 7th. I hope to see all of us speaking up against those tyrants who occupy our Congress and the White House.

2. Welcome to DU, Floyd
Your questions have been asked many times here and while there have been answers posted, the lack of recognition of the problem requires the questions be asked again, and again, as you have.

All I can tell you is that every time our votes are stolen, the government becomes less and less responsive to the people. To me, stolen elections are at the core of our problems.
