The MOST important question for Democratic candidates in presidential debates (IMO)
Edited on Sun Feb-18-07 12:14 PM by Rowdyboy
"Will you promise to nominate another Democrat as your running mate?"

I don't want to hear any more "coalition ticket" bullshit, like the nauseating rumors of Kerry-McCain ticket in 2004. The debates are the perfect time to get them on record. Lets DEMAND a commitment from all our candidates upfront that they will select another Democrat as running mate. Surely we deserve at least that piddling scrap from our potential nominee.

(I'm presuming, of course, that any serious contender will be committed to ending the war in Iraq)

1. I think that's a given
In this environment. I don't know what Repuke would be asked anyway, or accept, for that matter.

3. I've seen several mentions of Chuck Hagel......
I thought it was a given in 2004. Turned out I was wrong.

4. People mentioning Hagel simply aren't paying attention.
He's extremely conservative, one of the most conservative members of Congress. The chances of Hagel being anywhere near the Democratic Party ticket are zero.

One stance on one issue does not a Democrat make.

2. Not to mention
Even GORE had Liebermann (the traitor) as a VP! What the HELL was he thinking??? And I love AL!

How about they need to have SOME kind of prior knowledge of the WORLD and Diplomacy as it seems THAT will be our highest hurdle to climb in 08.

Clark and Richardson are the only two with that kind of experience!

5. Well...
I'd rather have Lincoln Chafee than a majority of the current Democratic candidates, so I would welcome "coalition ticket" with Chafee on it, but I think that is the only one.

6. Of course they will.
Just like in 2004, 2000, 1996, 1992, 1988, 1984, 1980, etc.

BTW hasn't the Kerry-McCain rumor been debunked and debunked time after time? Hell, the last thread about that subject was closed by the moderator because it was debunked and old news.

7. Like I said "nauseating rumors"....I don't want a chance of a repeat
of that crap. They need to make it clear in advance.
