A la Jeffords, that is.

If so, whom might that be?

The idea a pterodactyl like Lieberman holding the 'balance of power' for two years is so sad it's almost funny.

Indeed, there must be a few screenwriters pecking away at computers as we speak, inspired by the sheer improbability of the situation. It's really Mel Brooks' territory.

'Cept it's real and ain't too funny. And I believe Mel's retired.

6. Well this is a start ( from wikipedia):
>>>>Her moderate views have drawn attacks from conservative Republicans; the Club for Growth and Concerned Women for America label her a "Republican in Name Only" ("RINO").>>>>

Basically, it seems, she's more of a umm... " Hillary Clinton Democrat" than a mainstream republican. Hopscotches around the political landscape and forever drawing fine lines, the significance of which ... in HRC's case, anyway... remain obscure. 'Cept perhaps to political consultants.

If she flipped she'd have more leeway to move left; wouldn't have to placate the GOP rw.

Better, I'd suggest, a "RINO" than a "RAN" ( Rep in All but Name)

7. Well the rationale is always ' the party has abandoned *me*".
And it's arguably true in the case of Snowe... though she gave lockstep support to the Iraq catastrophe... until very recently.

But that alone ( the very recently part) is a HUGE improvement over Lieberman who cannot get ENOUGH of this war and doesn't seem as though he ever will.

8. Too late. They're all TOAST come post '08 elections
Senate elections 2008
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Senate_elections,_2008

Voters will automatically vote anti-R after this sorry record and yesterday's sandbagging of a repudiation of the Bush lies-for-war policies. Iran, here we come !? seems to be their mantra
