Mitt Romney thinks gay marriage is worse than murder
On This Week, George Stephanopoulos reviewed numerous Mitt Romney flip-flops and grilled him on how his religious beliefs would affect his performance as president.

"I think religion is a separate sphere in terms of a particular brand of faith. But I think the principles of all faiths have as their foundation the idea that there is a supreme being that this supreme being is a heavenly father and that all the people in our country and in all countries are sons and daughters of the same supreme being. I think we are, if you will, one family of humanity. That informs very dramatically my sense of what our relationship should be in the world, our need to care for the very poor and the diseased and the brutalized, our need in this country to provide opportunities for all of our citizens. But the particular doctrines of a church, I don't think are a major part of a political sense.

Shorter Romney: my sect freaks people out, so let's describe religion in generalities. Generalities which, by the way, only account for believers in paternalistic monotheistic faiths.

Romney's latest position on abortion is that it is killing a human life, yet he thinks it should be up to individual states.

Apparently gay marriage is much worse than murder to him, as he thinks it needs to be outlawed with a federal amendment. He also avoided answering whether he considers being gay to be "a defect."

2. So, he would rather his child be murdered than be in a gay marriage?
That's what it comes down to, when you choose which one is "worse."

I don't know if Mitt has a child or not, but it's asinine to think that gay marriage is worse than murder. Jeebers, the Christofascists are pulling out all the stops lately, aren't they.

4.  He has lots of kids and he doesn't believe any of it. All he
believes is that he should be President, and this is guessing, but I think he also believe that he's owed the Presidency because of what happened to his father. He's the ultimate opportunist.

8. Seems to fly in the face of what he "believed"
... while running for governor.

"He's the ultimate opportunist," I don't know how to say it more emphatically than that.

3. This from a guy who believes....
...that some other guy was given two golden tablets in the 19th century that only he could translate and then started a religion where one of the doctrines is polygamy. Yeah, this is exactly what the country needs after Bush. :sarcasm:

10. Huh?
I'm not fan of Romney but on what basis do you make the inflammatory claim in the headline of your post? You don't have any quotes or links to back up that he really thinks gay marriage is worse than murder.

11. The link to the show video is included in the OP
He says he now thinks that abortion is taking a human life. He says it's up to states to decide whether or not to outlaw it, and he is cagey about whether he thinks it should be punished in any way.

He says that gay marriage should be banned at the national level via a constitutional amendment, hence he suggests that gay marriage is a more fundamental social ill than murdering, as "pro-life" people consider it, an unborn child.
