Why we should take the BBC reports on Bush's Iran War plan seriously
The BBC details Bush's likely plan of attack, should he decide to use military force against Iran:

The report describes two potential "triggers" for a US attack on Iran, proof "that Iran was developing a nuclear weapon" or "a high-casualty attack on US forces in neighbouring Iraq ... if it were traced directly back to Tehran."

If the latter claim is true — that Bush will start a new war based on "evidence" of Iran inflicting major casualties on US troops in Iraq — his comments in last week's press conference suggest that Mr. Resolute is well on the way to pulling the trigger:

"I can say with certainty that the Quds force, a part of the Iranian government has provided these sophisticated IEDS that have harmed our troops."

"To say it is provoking Iran is just a wrong way to characterize the Commander-in-Chief's decision to do what is necessary to protect our soldiers in harm's way."

"We do know that they're there, and I intend to do something about it, and I've asked our commanders to to something about it, and we're going to protect our troops."

"What matters is is that we're responding."

What matters is is that our president is is completely out of his mind. The mind boggles at how much more toxic the Middle East would become for U.S. interests should The Decider embark on a series of strikes in Iran. Can you say "caliphate"?

and worst

The Neocon don't learn, and will not learn, not even after an attack on Iran... you see democracy is on the march and we will dominate the world no matter what....

And bush is as insane as they are... and they have had their eyes on Iran just as long as they had them on Iraq... why reality would have any effect on this is kind of ... silly

:sarcasm:

3. Interesting article in Vanity fair- plans were regional
It was not to be Iraq, it was always Iraq and Syria and Lebanon and of course Iran was in there too.

They see it as too little has been done not too much.

4. The outcome of a U.S. attack on Iran is unthinkable...
...but not, I'm afraid, to Bush.

There's no doubt that his recent press conference was aimed at softening up the American public to a new war front.

I hope I'm wrong on at least one of the following:
1. Bush will begin bombing Iran
2. There is no God -- and if there is one, he won't protect us and a world full of innocent bystanders from the Armageddon that Bush is tempting

5. But think of the profit!
A war upon Iran would result in:

-US/OPEC control of a huge oil resource and a corner on the markets
-Massive military/industrial spending with no end in sight
-Bush's Base permanently tap the Treasury feed bag
-Increased social and economic control of the USA by BushCo

And in the event of another terrorist attack, even more of the above. It's a win-win for the moneymen. The rest of us are in trouble.
