Obama camp fires back, takes 'Lincoln Bedroom' shot.
It is SO on.

Obama Camp Takes Lincoln Bedroom Shot
The Obama camp has responded to Howard Wolfson's demands. From spokesperson Robert Gibbs: "We aren’t going to get in the middle of a disagreement between the Clintons and someone who was once one of their biggest supporters. It is ironic that the Clintons had no problem with David Geffen when was raising them $18 million and sleeping at their invitation in the Lincoln bedroom. It is also ironic that Senator Clinton lavished praise on Monday and is fully willing to accept today the support of South Carolina State Sen. Robert Ford, who said if Barack Obama were to win the nomination, he would drag down the rest of the Democratic Party because ’he's black.’"

1. Oh my, Mrs. Clinton would not accept
the support of a man that said that about Sen. Obama would she?

Please tell me NO!

4. His communication team is fantastic!!
They nail it immediately.

I called his website number to find out more about the rally that was held in Los Angeles yesterday.

The lady was amazing!

Spent lots of time answering my questions and she had the information that I needed at her fingertips.

They are on the job!

Go to his website and see how user friendly it is ~ fantastic!

7. Obama Camp used RW Talking Point to diss Hillary, though...
And there are DU'ers here on "Papau's" post thread accusing that poster of using RW Talking Points against Obama.

I'm not a fan of Hillary...but using the "Lincoln Bedroom" lies only gives fodder to the media to laugh about Democratic "Food Fight."

I think less of Obama's "Camp" for doing this. What's next..? Will they bring up Vince Foster being dragged by Hillary's Ops into the park after she murdered him?

Do you see where this kind of stuff can go?

10. Vince Foster was a lie - the Lincoln bedroom is not
Obama worked on ethics reform in both Illinois and DC. If it comes down to Hillary and Obama, I bet Obama will run on ethics. After all, the top two issues in 2006 were Iraq and corruption. At the time, I thought this would be great for Kerry who was leading on Iraq and who is incorruptible (see BCCI). Obama has excellent credentials in both. The Clintons' ethics may very well be an issue in 2008.

15. Lincoln bedroom was a lie in that it was made to sound like
there was such enormous "pay to sleep" (Lincoln Bedroom) that it was a "revolving door." It wasn't.

I think the Bushies have the franchise on revolving door politics ...including the Lincoln bedroom that's so threadbare under Bushies that Laura just had to redecorate it.

21. Did Geffen sleep in the Lincoln bedroom?
What I see is that the Hillary people have instituted a "new rule". No RW phrase or charge or anything close can be used. Yet, I saw Hillary people, like Carville and McAuliffe, over the last 2 years repeat every RW line on Kerry. (Not to mention that Bill Clinton in early 2005 called Kerry not strong enough on national defense.)

They have hit Edwards and Obama pretty hard - then try to look innocent. If Hillary were not running, no Democratic candidate would criticise him - none did in 2004. (though it meant down playing Kerry's BCCI accomplishment.) But with Hillary running partly on those 8 years, no opponent can avoid legitimate criticism. That is a natural consequence of Hillary running.

Also, if you are speaking RW themes - the soft on terrorism one was used by Senator Clinton.

the information was completely factual and not necessarily an intentional dig.

9. Here is why Obama's camp responded...
Clinton chief spokesperson Howard Wolfson, in a release this a.m., is "demanding that" Obama "disavow personal attacks" from Geffen. Wolfson: "While Senator Obama was denouncing slash and burn politics yesterday, his campaign's finance chair was viciously and personally attacking Senator Clinton and her husband. If Senator Obama is indeed sincere about his repeated claims to change the tone of our politics, he should immediately denounce these remarks, remove Mr. Geffen from his campaign and return his money. While Democrats should engage in a vigorous debate on the issues, there is no place in our party or our politics for the kind of personal insults made by Senator Obama's principal fundraiser."

If Clinton doesn't want to play hardball, she shouldn't pitch the first ball of the game.

Obama's campaign used RW Talking point lie about Lincoln Bedroom to go after her.

16. All Presidents invite people to the WH and many want to stay in
the Lincoln Bedroom because it's historic and they can always "show off" about it.

Using the RW Attack Point against Hillary was something our Dems should have learned by now not to do. There were better ways for Obama Camp to respond than doing Repug TP attack...

19. Implying that Clinton's used Lincoln Bedroom for donors was a Repug attack used
against the Clintons constantly by the RW,FOX and the Limpball's machine.

Obama's camp shouldn't use RW TP against a fellow Dem Candidate if he wants to be the honest, upright new face of the Democratic Party. I might expect this from Joe Biden (as a slip of his bloviating tongue) but not from the person whos supposed to be a "different Dem" that we all can respect.

23. If Geffen DID stay in the Lincoln Bedroom,
it was a factual statement. A lot of WH guests stay in that room, and not just donors. I don't think Obama's team should walk on eggshells to avoid mentioning something that might be a little bit sensitive to the Clintons. Hell, they were attacked from so many angles, it would be pretty difficult to completely avoid areas that haven't been a point of contention for them at some point.

18. Ok, it's a response to Team Clinton's volley
What did we learn?

Well, if we were paying attention the real message was this: Obama's team will rapidly respond to each and every hit. The broadsides, the stealths and everything in between. Team Obama will slam back hits from anyone up and down the roster, including those who plan to just mercilessly steamroll all that is before them.

They might think twice before they take another swipe at Obama.

In other news, I suspect we will see behavior from Team Clinton that we'd have loved to seen directed at the neo-cons over the years. Sadly it will be directed at fellow Dems. No fear of offending Rethugs in that strategy and the confidence that the base will "fall in line" for the GE is quite high.

Dems cheering for their team on either side...I'm figuring that it will the last candidate standing after the war who wins.

I don't think this is productive...but obviously Sports/Celebrity/Hero Worshp and RW Attacks have gone mainstream in America. Killing your opponent with attacks more important that the issues.

Business as usual.

26. It's not finished for the MSCorporate Media and Repugs who are eating this up
though. It's a great distraction from Dem Policy Issues and the Iraq War...but it does neither Obama or Clinton any good in the minds of average Dem voters out there and what we hope to be the new Democratic Agenda for getting our Country out of the hands of the Bush Evil Empire.

28. You wake up with dogs........
Obama's camp is doing exactly the right thing - respond instantly and with both barrels blazing. This is not summer camp on Lake Wackinumma. Everyone knows the Clinton political team is ruthless and takes no prisoners, without making any value judgment about that fact. If Obama is serious, and I don't doubt he is, he has no other choice. This is for high stakes and the competition will be fierce. Anyone expecting a game of patty-cake is naive.

24. Good for Obama. That is a great response to a dumb political
move by Hillary and her team. It is pretty early for her to be overreacting to a Hollywood type running his mouth.I have always thought that Hillary has a tin ear where politics is concerned and this is further evidence that she is woefully deficient in electoral IQ.

27. Should have left out 9 words.

"and sleeping at their invitation in the Lincoln bedroom"

I am thrilled to see Obama's proxies slap down Clinton's proxies. But like KoKo01 I would prefer they had done it without an allusion to rightwing lies. My thrill is less than it would have been because of that.

On the other hand if I filter out those words, I find myself smiling quite broadly right now.
