My Very First Post On Daily Kos:
Edited on Wed Feb-21-07 10:56 PM by Dinger
I posted this in the Clark Group, but wanted others to see it too. Not that it's all that great, but here it is anyway:

I LOVE it! Many of the things mentioned in this entry are reasons why I like Wes.
When I am alone, and ask myself, Ding, why is it exactly that you feel so strongly about Wes Clark? Then I think something like this:

First, I like his humble beginnings, and the struggles he has had in his life. I have had my own struggles, and to a degree, I can relate. Second, his love, yes his love, for the men and women in uniform. I am not a veteran, but there are many in my family who are, and I really appreciate their service, as well as that of all our veterans. Third, his empathy and compassion. If you have never seen the 60 Minutes II interview with Dan Rather (2003), please do. Fourth, his foreign policy and diplomatic experience are second to none in this field of Democratic candidates (Dayton Peace Accords). We need someone who has experience like his, and no one in this campaign comes close to Wes Clark. Fifth, his sacrifice and heroism. He is the most decorated soldier since Eisenhower. The story of how he was shot four times and led his soldiers to safety, and his bravery in getting the bodies of dead soldiers out of a tank which was hanging on the side of a cliff, so their families could have some measure of closure, well, it sounds like Audie Murphy. Sorry if that's corny, bit it's the way I feel. Sixth, his intelligence. Rhodes Scholar, need I say more?
Seventh, his leadership experiences - NATO Supreme Allied Commander. He led a war where not one American soldier lost their life. He was in charge of tens of thosands of soldiers and their families, which includes health care, housing, education, infrastructure, etc. You get the idea. Eighth, his tireless work for Democrats in the 2006 election. If anybody ever had a doubt as to his being a Democrat, this should have erased all doubt. Ninth, his integrity and character. (Hear that Hugh Shelton?) Nuff said. Tenth, his love for his family. I have seen him in person, when he didn't know I was paying attention, and his love for his wife and his son and his family is evident, and touching. Eleventh, he is very genuine and personable. I have met him on more than one occasion, and I am no one special. I am of modest means, and Ilive in a log cabin in northern Wisconsin. But Wes is very approachable, and kind. For those who have met him, you already know he has a way of making you feel like you are the only person in the room, though there may be thousands.
I have more reasons, but these are some off the top of my head. Since this is my first post here, please be patient with my plain way of writing. It's just the way I am.

Peace,

Dinger
