WTF?? I got a voice-mail from the Republican National Committee
from Cynthia Todd at Rep. Tom Cole's office about giving me an Award!?
She wanted me to call back so they could "agree on the press release wording"

2. It's a money making thing.

They call people up, tell them they'll give them an award, they get to come to an event, etc. It's an honorary thing but you gotta fork money over for it. I think the DNC may do the same thing to a certain degree also.

4. Probably like being invited to be in the "Who's Who" book.
You have to agree to buy the book.

9. I read somewhere this was like a scam to make money.
I am going to google and see if it comes up. I think I saw in on Kos or one of those sites back during the elections.

10. I got the same thing yesterday!!!!
Mine was from a guy named Steve Metz, out of Tom Coles office.

They must have gotten a REALLY bad list from somewhere. We should all call them back, and ask them how we were chosen for such an honor. And pledge thousands!

Just don't send it.

12. It's fundraising wholesale.
They target professionals like doctors, lawyers, accountants, and business owners. They tell you you won something like a national business award, which has no merit or recognition. You pay a stipend, attend a dinner in DC to get your award and a plaque, but you are pinched for yet more money for republicans once you show up. In the end, you return with something to put on your walls at work, maybe a press release to the local paper, and a tax deduction for next year. Sorry to burst your bubble, but you are just another name on a list.
