Clark's personal Diary has been on the kos Recommend list all day, as was the Iran kos Diary Clark did on the 22nd which got well over 800 comments. When Marcos mentions Clark's fading public profile he obviously forgot to look at his own site.
I think many of the highest profile net bloggers have been lightly seduced into the lifestyle of professional pundits being courted full time by the big money campaign operations. They are learning to be dismissive of the opinions of the people whose support put them into those roles to begin with. Kos is certainly not speaking for kossacks with his statement.
It would be perfectly legitimate for kos to cut Clark out of his cattle call if he only wants announced candidates in it. It is silly beyond belief to include Clark anyway, but then place him below Sharpton for example in his rankings. The only way Sharpton can claim to have a better chance of becoming the Democratic nominee over Clark is if Clark stated he would refuse that nomination if offered to him.
All kos was essentially saying here is that he doesn't believe that Wes Clark is running. In fact he ended his comments on Clark with this: "...So I'm starting to assume he's not going to run". Sure, if Clark doesn't run he has no chance of winning the nomination. And for another amazing prediction, the sun is likely to rise again tomorrow morning.
Meanwhile, even though Wes Clark has not announced his candidacy, in the most recent national 2008 political poll, just released by Quinnipiac, it looks like this:
DEMOCRATS............Tot Men Wom
Clinton...............38 33 42
Obama.................23 25 21
Gore..................11 14 8
Edwards.................6 7 6
Clark...................2 3 1
Richardson..............2 1 2
Biden...................1 2 1
Kucinich................1 1 1
Dodd...................... - - -
Vilsack................... - - -
Someone else............1 1 1
Wouldn't vote...........1 1 1
Don't know..............13 11 14
In other words Clark is still polling above everyone in the field other than the current break out big three front runners and Al Gore. I am not claiming that is wildly impressive, but it ain't bad for someone who isn't even running yet, still edging out the entire second tier of 2008 announced candidates.
