Senator Bill Clinton (D-NY)
This really has a nice ring to me.

I am sorry in advance if this has been previously discussed. I have been working on a big project for the last few days and have not been logged on much to check DU.

IF Hillary is elected president and Gov. Spitzer appoints Hillary's replacement in the Senate, methinks Bill would be a fine Senator.

1. I'm not a New Yorker but methinks it's a lousy idea
and that there are several people who deserve it far more than rock star Bill.

5. His approval rating is so much better than that of a rock star.
I wonder why?

08 nomination.

I believe Gov. Spitzer won't have to worry about this happening because I don't believe Democratic caucus and primary voters will choose HClinton as their first choice for the nomination.

I believe she places no better than 3rd and possibly 4th in Iowa, no better than 3rd in Nevada, and no better than 3rd in New Hampshire.

By summer this year the sense of "inevitability" her campaign handlers have tried to create will have faded.

If she were to prove me wrong and win the nomination, and Spitzer had a slot to fill, I'd hope he'd choose Mario Cuomo. I'd prefer Cuomo in the White House, or on the Supreme Court, but I believe a President Hillary Clinton would be likely to select a female justice to the top court if an opening became available.

Robert Kennedy, Jr. would also be a great choice.

8. Cuomo and RFK, Jr. are great choices.
As some other posters have replied, I do agree that Bill Clinton has other priorities. Mario Cuomo is a truly great public servant.

9. Hi, Rockholm. If HClinton wins the nomination and Presidency, and Gov.
Spitzer has to fill that seat, he has some spectacular choices. Bill Clinton. Cuomo, RFK Jr. and on and on.

New York has always been a deep bench for Democrats. And I love it that way.

____

I appreciate your Red Sox logo there. In earlier days I watched a game at Fenway and was transfixed with what a natural, sensational, comfortable, true place it was to play baseball.

10. Fenway is a majestic place to see a game.
Each off season for the past few years, the owners have added seats and have truly make Fenway Park one of the great venues. You should come take in a game sometime. Prices however and availability of tickets are another story.

13. O man it just sounds great. An early summer night's game at Fenway?
I'm there.

My hat's off to anybody who likes it, to anyone who's been there at all.

One of the nation's truly great places.

11. He is great
but he's almost 75 years old and has been out of politics for 13 years.

Andrew Cuomo would be a more reasonable choice.

3. Sure he would make a great Senator, BUT I doubt very much that
Bill would be interested in that job! Being a GOOD Senator requires a lot of time and work. Right now, Bill is doing what HE wants to do, and making a lot of $$ and a large impact on the World. Personally, if he would be interested, I would rather see him as an ambassador, or statesman negotiator for peace. Perhapsea new Dem Prez would nominate him?

7. We Could Dump Democracy ...
... and just install an oligarchy composed of two or three families, a few very wealthy corporate and Hollywood types, and several war "heros".

If they were Democrats, that would be fine, right?

Or maybe in a nation of over 300 million people we can find enough qualified, competent progressives that we could have diversity and equality in our governmental leadership.

12. What about Nita Lowey?
You know, the woman who was going to run for Moynihan's seat back in 1999, before corrupt New York Democrats twisted people's arms and "cleared the field" so a Big Name could run and use the seat as a stepping-stone to the presidency.

14. Hi, election_2004. I think Nita Lowey has a future in the Senate, and
the sooner that happens the better for everyone.

I have a lot of respect for her, and she'd be a great choice.
