Another baptist minister sex story with a new angle
- The lawyer for a former baptist church leader who had spoken out against homosexuality said thursday the minister has a constitutional right to solicit sex from an undercover policeman.
- The REVEREND Lonnie dubya Latham had supported a resolution calling on gays and lesbians to reject their "sinful, destructive lifestyle" before his January 3rd, 2006 arrest outside the Habana Inn in Oklahoma City. Authorities say he asked the undercover policeman to come up to his hotel room for oral sex.
- Lonnie has resigned from the South Tulsa Baptist Church and he has stepped down from the executive committee of the southern baptist convention.

Dateline: Okla City. AP print story

Praise the Lord! Isn't it a blessing that a baptist minister is so concerned with constitutional rights.

3. Only if targets of unwanted solicitation have the right
to give whoever is trying to hustle him/her a knuckle sandwich.

5. Dear me, I just LOVE these Southern Baptist ministers
Condemn everyone else for everything from women wearing pants to inter-racial dating, but let one of them get caught in a sleazy situation and (1) Their constitutional rights are being trampled; (2) They are troubled individuals in need of therapy and rehabilitation; and (3) They are deeply repentant sinners in need of our support, prayers, forgiveness, and compassion. Most important: (4) Send Money! to support their ongoing fight against the evildoers! I have lived in the theocratic Deep South all my life, and I certainly don't say the Southern Baptists are worse than all the rest, there are just so many MORE of them. In any given small town in the American south, the minister of the First Baptist Church considers himself the most important citizen, a view largely shared by his smug, self-righteous congregation. :P O8)

6. This apparently is another example
of a christian conservative being persecuted in today's America. No doubt he was set up and his only goal was to help the undercover policeman get through the travails of his life.

Ya can't swing a dead cat in Pearl River County without hitting a baptist church.

And I do so love a baptist minister whining about constitutional liberties.

7. The Habana Inn is very gay friendly, i.e. drag shows
One of my old roommates used to drive from Lawrence down to OKC for the drag shows at the Habana Inn. He thought they were that good. In fact, I grew up not far from the Habana, just a couple of miles to the west (or stay on I-40, hop off on the 23rd Street exit and you're just blocks from my parent's house), so I'm pretty familiar with area. Heck, one of my high school (Northwest Classen) hang-outs was Shakey's Pizza just up the block from the Habana.

I guess the Rev. was down there saving souls?
