10 More Years in Iraq
I was just reading the Think Progress blog and saw a story about how American troops may be in Iraq for another 10 years. I pasted the paragraph about the issue from Think Progress. I think Think Progress has a link to the full Newsweek story. www.thinkprogress.org

"Why we’re staying in Iraq.’ Newsweek: “The British are leaving, the Iraqis are failing and the Americans are staying — and we’re going to be there a lot longer than anyone in Washington is acknowledging right now. … hat few people seem to have noticed is that Gen. David Petraeus’s new ’surge’ plan is committing U.S. troops, day by day, to a much deeper and longer-term role in policing Iraq than since the earliest days of the U.S. occupation. How long must we stay under the Petraeus plan? Perhaps 10 years. At least five. … To a degree little understood by the U.S. public, Petraeus is engaged in a giant ‘do-over.’” (Via Atrios) February 22, 2007 7:00 pm | Comment (67)

This is completely crazy if it is true. Staying is Iraq for ten more years would not do anything except greatly increase the number of troops who come home in boxes. Somehow the public must be made aware of this plan. Too bad the media is not tellling the people about this. I watch CBS Nightly News just about every night and I have never seen them say anything about troops being in Iraq for 10 more years.

2. Why would the Republic Party's owned media board-members tell...
the people about this? They're wealthy enough and they want more (not necessarily from running commercial ads, since they're making a bonus with their shares in the MIC...), they use the media as their "free" propaganda catapult (it doesn't "costs" them, it costs the taxpayers).
