Red neck housewives and Hillary.
This post is based on observations in my workplace. I have not yet, nor will I choose a Democratic primary contender until 2008. until then I will be impartial to all Primary candidates whether I like them or not.

In my line of work, you will run into alot of good ole boys. They are not bad guys. I think of them as accidental Republic Party members. They all voted
for * and they all are now regretting it. Still a vote for Kerry in 2004 even if they knew then what they know now is unthinkable. He was viewed as a weak
man. Not a weak Candidate mind you, but a weak man. It really is a forgive them for they know not what they have done situation. They just don't want
to pay attention to the real debates. Echo chamber sound bytes work very well on these guys. However, it looks like Karma will catch up to them, and it won't be pretty.

Many of these guys are just astounded at the fact that their wives want Hillary. These bucolic stay at home moms who have watched their rights fade away in the name of tax cuts and war. Maybe it is a good thing that Hill is looked at as a shrew from the right (and by some on the left). It gives her a tough persona in the eyes of the Rethug proletariat. Remember * got elected on balls not brains, and Hillary has plenty of both.

So please tell me if you have witnessed anything similar to this. Am I seeing an insulated case or could this be considered a ground swell for a female candidate, not necessarily Hillary , but a woman.

1. not the same situation exactly, but...
...the prospect of voting for a woman has gotten several women in my office interested in voting where the exhibited no prior interest.

2. Can you edit your post and take out reference to "Red Necked Housewives"
Edited on Fri Feb-23-07 02:01 PM by KoKo01
and "bucolic stay at home moms." It's kind of offensive to folks in some parts of the country and kind of painting females with a "broad brush." Also, you don't say what "your line of work" is...so that anyone would understand why you are angry about "red necked housewives."

5. Isn't the OP essentially a ballad in praise of "red necked housewives"?
Or did I misunderstand? Terminology aside, I didn't discern any anger towards them.

14. who said I was angry...
Not what I wanted to imply. By the way I have two kids and my wife stays at home. Only because my income was slightly larger. I have nothing against a mother or father who chooses to stay at home with the kids. I was only making reference to the specific situation that I have experienced. I am a precision machinist, with a small company. Easily 75% of the people I work or have worked with voted for *. They have snow mobiles, four wheelers, more guns than teeth, hunt all year round and won't for for Hillary because she has a vagina. They are not bad people, they just have bad judgment when politics is involved. Sorry if I offended you I was not using a broad brush though it may have come across that way. Where I come from Red Neck is not a slanderous term, many people use it to describe themselves, and are proud of it.

4. Well, I was pretty shocked recently at work....
Most of the nurses I work with want a woman in the White House and they want Hillary! I, not being one who wants anymore Bushes or Clintons in office, was very surprised to hear this. While taking care of patients on the hospital floor I work on, I would frequently turn one of the TV channels in a vacant room to watch Kerry's speeches and the debates. Back then, these same people HATED Kerry. They would not vote for him at all and volunteered that information on many occasions. So it really shocks me to hear the same ones say how much they like and plan on voting already for Hillary. I just don't understand.

6. Kosmo, do you in fact know these guys' wives?
In your experience of them, would you say they behave in a manner that is in fact "bucolic"?

Can what you know of them personally be characterized as similar to what is referred to as "Redneck"?

Don't worry about being PC; for the most part, in this environment, only those who WANT to be insulted will be.

:hi: Welcome to DU! :hi:

15. Not all of them but most.
Well as much as you can know someone from seeing them on occasion at the shop or at the x-mas and summer picnics put on by the company.

7. "forgive them for they know not what they have done situation."?

Phuck THAT. These uninformed "good ole boys" (and their votes for Smirk) have a direct impact on my life, especially as someone with family in the military.

As far as Hillary goes, I haven't witnessed anything similar to what you presented above. The only stay-at-home Moms I know are part of the McMansion crowd, and they seem plenty satisfied with "their rights."

8. Freeper women
Nearly all cannot stand Hillary and a lot I think stems from the fact that they think she should have divorced Bill after the Monica affair. Interesting in that most claim to be for "traditional" marriage and scream all the time about too much divorce. I guess they like dictating what other people marriages should and shouldn't be. Besides, I think they too (including their men) don't like strong, independent women. They positively DROOL over Laura Bush. Ugh!!

As I said before, I have not made up my mind yet on Hillary's Presidential candidacy. There are other candidates to consider. Just because she is a woman, doesn't mean I will AUTOMATICALLY vote for her. My major concern is her stance on the war, and it seems, her stance on going to war with Iran.

10. I talk to a lot of (*previously conservative) voting women from many
walks of life who have always followed the "leader" into the booth & voted the way he does.......

This time, they are asking questions and they are asking about Senator Clinton.

Could be they are closet Dems. Could be most of them know something of her record on children & women's rights & needs. That record goes back to her college days. Frankly, I've been suprised that so many (*pc's) have ask me what I thought about her politically & her candidacy.....

I'm no expert, but I have been a Democrat all my life & they want information & opinions aside from hubby's.

11. Dems come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and political proclivities.
It's hard for some to understand that. Being California born and raised, I have trouble relating to those rectangular states in the middle of the country. But in the end, a vote is a vote, right?
