President Carter Endorses Al Gore
He correctly says Gore could do more as President than as a private citizen:

2. Is that why he has been a private citizen all of these years?
Edited on Sat Feb-24-07 09:58 AM by RestoreGore
Because if he really believes you can do more from the presidency (which is really not true on this issue based on the last thirty years and seeing the effect of Mr. Gore's work outside elective politics already,) I wonder why he didn't go for it again but now expects that Mr. Gore after doing it for over a quarter century isn't entitled to live his life and do good things as a private citizen as well?

To me it doesn't sound like something President Carter would say based on his own life. Such a shame people can't just allow this good man to live his life as he so chooses now after all he has already done, but continue to harrass him. A shame Jimmy Carter couldn't use the time he had on this show better to announce he was now joining Mr. Gore's initiatives because this is a planetary emergency and to inspire others to action now.

I'm beginning to wonder if some people are now being put up to this, I really am, because it would seem that no matter what Al Gore says, people just don't seem to care about what he is doing and what he thinks. If he almost told Carter not to call him anymore, I think that sends a message.

5. You make no sense
You call yourself restore Gore, and yet at every opportunity you berate people who want him to run. You always refer to him as already having decided not to run, when that is blatantly not the case. What is your agenda? Who is your first choice for the dem candidate? Hillary?

It is obvious that Gore has orchestrated a truly brilliant p.r. campaign with the Oscars, the release of his new book, and a Nobel nomination, that he is certainly running for something

6. I don't have a political agenda
Edited on Sat Feb-24-07 06:47 PM by RestoreGore
Because this crisis is not a political issue. I also agree with Mr. Gore that this political process is toxic and that grassroots action from the bottom up is essential to success regarding that window on this planet not closing. THAT IS MY AGENDA.... seeing that window remain opened. And I am entitled to the opinion that I want Mr. Gore to remain out here as the inspiration and advocate for that grassroots effort without constantly being bitched at by people here who obviously DO have a political agenda over really caring for that issue.

3. I agree with former President Carter
What a punching bag he still is, judging by the comments on that blog. And I think he's dead right about Al Gore. Someone once posted that Gore resembles the mythic hero, who is defeated at first and after a time in the wilderness returns purified, stronger and wiser. In such stories the hero is reluctant to engage in the great battle to come, preferring instead a private life, but relents when he realizes there is no one else who can see it through. We shall see.

4. Of course he can, that's why he is running.
Don't be fooled by the bitter naysayers... Al Gore IS running right now.

All you need to do is stop for a second and listen to him. He says all the same things a cadidate says without currently saying "when I am president I will"

He CAN'T announce or even hint at an announcement until AFTER the concerts in July. (You don't want those to be seen as a political candidate event.). However, rest assure, he IS running right now.
