Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards calls a proposed wage increase for workers at Vanderbilt University inadequate.
The Democrat says a "great university like Vanderbilt" can do better.
The former North Carolina senator says the "living wage" issue is part of his platform.
He took a moment from campaigning in Nashville to support the Laborers International Union of North America Local 386. The union represents about 600 of Vanderbilt's 20,000 employees in the custodial, grounds, food service and skilled crafts categories.
