Oscar preview, Al Gore rescued Katrina victims Sep 2005 - AP
See this, before the Oscar hoopla.

Award nominee Vice-President Al Gore chartered a rescue plane in early Sept. 2005 and flew to New Orleans to medEvac 100s of patients from Charity Hospital and bring them to Tennessee. Gore declined interviews while he was shuttling the evacuees that Saturday and for a 2nd return flight he made on Sunday, but the doctors who flew with him talked about the experience.

Can you imagine what the past 7 plus years would of been like if this great man was allowed to serve out his term as President? - Kevin

1. I remember that

The MSM briefly mentioned it-on their tickers-but it was a story that was basically under the radar. Thank you, Mr. Gore.

2. Look at the picture
The determination on Gores face is amazing. Now flash back to chucklenuts reading My Pet Goat. The vacuous look of a deer in the tail lights.

How did anyone vote for this cretin?

Shrub being left with the controls is detrimental, but us not having the benefit of Al-Truism and some semblance of fairness,in everything from Money to Freedom and Our Democracy ,has been a huge stumble for the other 99% of u.s. Gore/Bradley 2008

5. I knew nothing about this. Thanks.
This is news to me, and I'm sure it'd be news to 99.9% of Americans. And I pay attention to the news.

9. This sums it up...
<snip>

Doctors say most diabetes patients haven't had insulin or a shower in days.

"Their condition is, they are speaking and able to move," said Dr. Anderson Spicker, who was asked to fly on the plane by former Vice President Al Gore.

Dr. Spicker says the refugees were relieved to make it to Tennessee. "When we touched down, and I was in the middle of all the folks on the plane in the aisle, the guy next to me said, 'You know, I haven't felt safe in 10 days. I feel safe."

10. I knew he chartered the planes but

I didn't know he physically helped in evacuating the patients.
While he was down there, what was Bush doing? We know
Michael Brown was worried about his wardrobe and Condi
was shoe shopping!

12. Bush* was eating cake with McCain and praying
the levies would break and get all those poor black people out of NO so his rich buddies/cronies/thieves could buy the land cheap and turn it into a Republican state. Then he'd have Halliburton rip off the taxpayers to build the levies higher and stronger. He had good personal reasons for ignoring NO. He had been praying for that scenario for years.

Especially how he had to fight the govt. to get landing slots for the two rescue planes, and finally was only able to do it through the intervention of Mineta - the only Democrat in the Bush cabinet.

If any story proves the hostility of main stream media to Al Gore, it is that this story was not investigated and reported. Think of the endless space/coverage devoted to the fact he consulted on wardrobe choices - versus this story. Note he's wearing a plain black t-shirt & jeans while saving 270 victims. I know that Bush's post Katrina visits to the Gulf Coast were extremely disruptive to the rescue operations, as dozens of rescuers were coralled to waste half a day posed as background for Bush's photo ops.

14. Oh, sure.
Next you're going to tell me he helped create the internet, and was the subject of "Love Story," and was Vice President or something. You're probably going to try to tell me he made a movie about "global warming," which got nominated for an Oscar. Heh. Right. I'll bet next you're going to claim he was even nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Suuuuuuuure he did.

17. Among the people he rescued was the aunt of a woman we know
The woman, who had been a vocal critic of Gore's, is now one of his biggest fans.

And yes, everyday for the past 7+ years I have thought what Gore could have done in the White House and it breaks my heart. The world would be so different now. I'm not delusional and I don't believe it would be utopia but we would still be a strong and proud nation that concentrated more on global issues and concerns instead of the portfolios of certain contributors and political hacks.

19. In an AAR interview Gore briefly discussed it when asked.
But, he didn't want to talk much about it and moved the interview on. He's too decent a man to get into the president's office these days. I'd vote for him in a second. But, the MSM and swiftboaters would tear him apart. Still, I hope he runs.
