Illegal Immigrants help pay for social security
http://www.boston.com/news/local/vermont/articles/2007/02/25/illegal_immigrants_often_have_fake_ids/

So some of the benefits of illegal immigrant laborers who use fake social security numbers is that they help pay down the social security.

On the other hand, many illegal immigrants also use up state and local resources in education, health care, and police.

2. If you never claim benefits does it equal out?
not filing a tax return can mean not paying taxes in some instances or in others it could mean not getting the part of taxes you (as a legal citizen) would be entitled to back.

We cannot get accurate numbers on this so all we can do is guess. That sucks.

3. You mean to get a refund?
They don't. Which is why we get to keep the income tax money that gets collected DIRECTLY from their paychecks.

5. That's assuming ...

That's assuming they're not being paid under the table.

6. They would not need false document then, would they?
The whole point of having the false documents is not to protect the worker, but to protect the employer, who can then claim "he done didn't know nothing about no phony documents".

If the employer turns around and pays under the table, then the employer is in violation of the law, and subject to criminal prosecution. That's why they use the phony papers; a legal fig leaf.

But the worker gets screwed six ways from Sunday.

But the worker gets screwed six ways from Sunday.

9. I suspect most have already paid their taxes
via witholding.

Those with steady jobs (and forged social security numbers) that is.

I'm sure most day laborers paid in cash will not pay taxes, though immigration status has nothing to do with this (my late FIL made $10k tax free one year doing odd jobs)

4. Out of 20 or so illegals I've known in N. VA over the years, NONE of them

actually got a paycheck. They were paid in cash. Their employers, mostly construction companies, are afraid they'll get caught employing them, so they pay them under the table. It must pay off for them since they obviously can't take those payments as expenses on their P&L and taxes.

They are good, hard working people, but are forced to remain hidden. They can't pay doctors usually so wait to use the Emergency room if necessary. Only docs they have to use are OB's for having kids if they're lucky enough to have their families with them, which most are not. 6 men usually live in one motel room and send all their money home.

We simply must close our borders so we can concentrate on what to do with the ones already here. I'd sure hate to be someone who's tried to immigrate here legally. The obstacles are great mostly due to the problem we already have.
