"It all started when George Bush needed to cut $85 billion in 2003 so he could make his second tax cut possible. The cut to future funding for vets came while Americans were holding rallies with the cry to "Support Our Troops". Even then I asked how we were to support our troops in war when we won’t support them after the war?
The House of Representatives voted to cut funding for veteran's health care and benefit programs $85 billion over the next ten years. It narrowly passed by a vote of 215 to 212, and came just a day after Congress passed a resolution to 'Support Our Troops.'" ~ March 2006

http://www.politicalgateway.com/main/columns/read.html?col=559

"The Bush Administration's 2004 budget proposed gutting Veterans Administration (VA) services, including health care funding. Proposed cuts included: denying at least 360,000 veterans access to health care; $250 annual premiums; increased pharmacy co-payments; a 30 percent increased primary care co-payments; and increased waiting time for a first medical appointment.

Because of budgetary shortfalls, the VA suspended the enrollment of veterans not injured in service earning between $24,450 and $38,100 annually. VFW officials estimated the administration's VA budget is at least $2 billion short of meeting the demand for quality health care.

The FY 2004 budget approved by Congress calls for reducing VA funding over a 10-year period by $6.2 billion. Cuts are in the areas of veterans' health care and disability benefits." ~January 2004

AFGE RESPONDS TO PRESIDENT'S EFFORT TO CUT VETERANS HEALTH CARE FUNDING
"Recent news reports offer fresh evidence that the president is playing a budget shell game with our veterans’ health care"

http://www.afge.org/Index.cfm?Page=PressReleases&PressReleaseID=585

I found so many articles like this I can't list them all. Ask any * supported why this is suddenly news now? Why has their awareness been so terribly supressed?

DO they really support the troops, or do they support the "idea" of troops fighting and killing for freedom, but beyond that who cares?

Ask them why are there an estimated "200,000 homeless veterans on any given night"?

http://www.nchv.org/background.cfm

Why do we even have to have a National Coalition for Homeless Veterans?

Perhaps it is OUR time to sport "Support The Troops" magnets on our vehicles.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2007/03/02/stockpile-builds-of-unsol_n_42506.html

I'm game as long as nobody is getting rich off the sales, all the profits should be donated to the troops. Why the hell have the righties given up on that mantra anyway? I hardly see a "that thing got a hemi" with that magnet anymore.

6. This says it all
From your post..."It all started when George Bush needed to cut $85 billion in 2003 so he could make his second tax cut possible."

In order to cut taxes for the wealthiest Americans, he gutted funds which should have been used to help our bravest Americans. Whenever a Republic is in power, the rich always come out ahead, no matter what group, veterans, the poor, children, the disabled, the uninsured, have to suffer, the rich will always profit.

8. It's asinine that as Dimson's hyping "This is a time of War" he then cuts the VA Budget.
